What did your care provider instruct you to do prior to your 1 hr test? fast? eat high protein/low carbs? eat normally? etc.

Just curious if/how it varies.

I think I'm using the same lab as the last time... they had me eat normally then fast for 12 hours before the test.

It seems sooooo odd to me that this test can be done so many different ways and have different cut off numbers for what passes fails. makes me wonder how accurate it is.

I think I had to fast with my first pregnancy. I know the appt was super early that morning. For this one she said eat normally but don't have like a giant bowl of sugary cereal for breakfast, and fast an hour before the test.

Mine will be first thing in the afternoon, and I was told to eat normally including a normal lunch.

Agree....so many different instructions....how accurate are the outcomes?

At my appointment yesterday the nurse gave me the fruite punch Glucose drink with an instruction sheet. I need to take it home and drink it within the next 2 no more than 3 weeks from now. Do not eat at least 2 hours before drinking. Once you drink come into the office to get your blood drawn (blood is to be drawn at the 1 hour mark).

That was all that was told to me.

Last time I was given the drink to take home. Was told to drink it 30 minutes before my 26 week appt, and then they took my blodd at the 1 hrs mark. I had to fast 8 hrs before so I made my appt for 8am.

This time it will be done in a lab so I have to fast 8 hrs before, walk in, get the drink, and then wait an hour. I'm praying it's not a wait because I get nauseous when I don't eat first thing. I plan to get to the lab at 7am (they officially open at 7:30) so I can go first.

I havent had mine dobe, but I'm seeing my OB this Thursday and nit lookng forward to havibg that test done. I think I dislike this tests out of all the testing they have you do throughout the pregnancy. I rather have an IV placed than taking the 3hr glucose test. Lol..

Mine is next week at 9am on Thursday and I was told to fast from 10 the night before. That's gonna be so hard because I'm so hungry as soon as I wake up, lol.

I have never had to have one thus far. I'll tell you if I end up having one with this pregnancy.

No instructions what so ever. I'll be taking it after lunch, so I'll try to eat a decent lunch if I remember [lol] before hand.

The only thing the tech told me was to not eat anything super sugary the day of my appt. I'm going to try to cut sugar and carbs for at least 2 days before, just because I'm super duper nervous about failing.
