So our entire downstairs is tile. . . And out back there's a patio, and then a 'yard' that is all dirt. And I live in Hawaii = Rain [though not as much as people think]. I also have a 2 year old and a dog. What does all that add up to? Very messy floors!

Generally - I like to mop 2x/week. However, I haven't mopped in over a week, just because my energy level once the kid is in bed is basically non-existant and my back just isn't having it after all the other cleaning I've been doing. I have someone coming over tomorrow - A new friend - So I figured I should probabllllllly mop before she get here.

Tonight I get home from my friends where she mentioned she heard of someone mopping with her feet. . . To which I replied that I spot mop that way. When I got home - I decided to use the crappy, cheap Gerber pre-fold cloth diapers and pre-mop my floors, so that it wouldn't be so bad tomorrow. . .

Yeah. Absolute insanity and the worst idea I've had all week. I got through DD's playroom, the front entry & the half bath fine - But the dog doesn't go over there, so it wasn't all that dirty. Then I made it like 3/4 way through the kitchen - Not even touching the living room - And was DONE. I was more so on my hands and knees, because using just my feet/food wasn't working out so well. . . I went through FOUR diapers in just that little bit of space. Oy.

Not a good idea at all. But hopefully the little bit I did do tonight will help with the mopping tomorrow & I can get it all done (with my steam mop) without having to get on my hands & knees again.

I'm with you. I go through days where I want to clean all the things but I have to take so many breaks I'm lucky to get one stupid room done. I've been trying so hard to keep the laundry room, kitchen, middle room done every single day and was doing so well. Then the stinking landlord's minions randomly show up yesterday to replace some loose floor tiles that were under the frig (yes because the 50 year old tiles don't ALL need to be replaced or anything) and made a freaking mess!! Now I'm going to have to drag out the mop bucket and I KNOW that's going to bring on the really bad BH. Sigh. I told DH yesterday that sometime before this baby is born my mom is going to have to watch our kid's for the day so we can deep clean. I wish I had started sooner but now I'm just too far along to do it all myself and the kid's just go right behind me and mess everything up. Especially my destructive son. Here's hoping we both get all our stuff done before these babies decide to pop out.

I'm so with you guys.

I busted my butt on Monday cleaning up after the weekend and by Tuesday afternoon, you couldn't even tell I lifted a finger. I don't have the energy or motivation for all this nesting crap. I need a maid.

My husband does a great deal, and my daughter helps as well. However, I have OCD and nesting compounded with that is not pretty. I scrub, clean, sterilize, and organize everything. Everywhere I look, it's not clean enough. Last night I about had a panic attack over the dust (even though we "just" dusted the day before). I had to go take a bath and read a book to not focus on it. I spin out of control, and then I get out of breath, and I hurt all over. It's pathetic.

Do you have a spray mop? You won't have to bend over for this one. I use it and it saves my back. You just add whatever cleaner you want and the spray handle is right at the top. I clean the kitchen tile in 5 minutes with this:

I have a steam mop - But I need to order more pads. If I don't keep on top of the mopping, I can easily use both pads, both sides, before the floors are completely clean. Mopping and sweeping in general just hurt my back, always has.

So I was going to get the steam mop out this morning before she came - But I am just exhausted and not feeling it. I did a good enough job last night

I hardly touch upstairs to get it clean because I feel like I am CONSTANTLY cleaning downstairs. It isn't bad, or a lot, but it's enough to wipe me out at 32 weeks! Thankfully, we're really only upstairs to sleep - So it isn't bad. Other then Adalyns room that's a complete wreck!

Good news is that DH wants to get all the stuff to lay grass seed this weekend - So hopefully we can get that done and grass will actually GROW!

I'm like you, Allyssa, as far as only being able to keep a portion of the house livable. I feel like I'm only able to keep up with the laundry room, kitchen, middle room and living room these days. That leaves the playroom, both bathrooms and our bedroom that doesn't get touched but just keeping those rooms up leaves me so exhausted. Our bedroom was sparkly not too long ago then DH decided it was time to move it around and get ready for the baby so now it's a mess and I don't have the energy to care. I'm going to have to crack down on DH scrubbing the tub for the next few weeks because I just cannot do it anymore. I get so dizzy.

Oh I so know how you feel. Right now my floors are tile and hard wood. Between the cats, dog, and kids I'm going nuts sweeping and mopping daily.

Yeah - I scrub bathrooms MAYBE once a month on a regular basis. Hah. I mean, I go in there and wipe down the counter and clean things up - But I don't get down and scrub around the toilet or the tubs. . . And there's NO way I'll be doing it right now xD

I hate mopping! Can you use a Swiffer or if you have a spouse make him do it. I had to give up mopping a few weeks ago bc it's getting to labor intensive. It's now DH's job

I got rid of my swiffer - All it did was push the dirt around and make my floors streaky & sticky. DH doesn't do much house work - Especially since he's working so much right now. He'll help me with stuff if I ask - But the floors aren't bothering me too much and if they start bugging him - Then he can mop them

I'm with you, I HATED my Swiffer cause my floors were always so sticky from it and I read some really bad stuff the solution can do to dogs somewhere. I bought a steam mop to replace it, but I don't love it either. I don't feel like it cleans the floors very well. After the movers came and we saw our old kitchen floors in Florida, you'd have thought we never once mopped there from the black streaks on the floor.. I used my steam mop weekly, at least. I had to borrow a ghetto old mop and bucket and SCRUB the floors. I'm thinking about getting that Swiffer-like mop someone linked above since you can put your own solution in it.

Was it cheap military housing floor? I am convinced that is half the problem Our floors now are nice! Looks just like nice tiles, but I know it's the fake stuff. But at the old house out here it was cheap, cheap stuff and they CONSTANTLY looked dirty even after I mopped. It was just the cheapness of the flooring.

We have a system....sweep, then swiffer, then wetjet....but we don't use the wetjet solution...DH makes a solution. I don't have the energy to do it, but DH is doing ALL the floors this weekend...I love him I spent time organizing again lol, easier than full out cleaning and I still feel productive!

Oh, Allyssa.. I wish I could explain to you the cheapness and ugliness of that old flooring, lol. Just to give you a mental image of its amazingness... it was a beige color (imagine the paint on your walls, we both know its the same color in ALL military housing!), with these dashes of color, I called them sprinkles cause they looked like cupcake sprinkles. Then the laminate had indentions on it that let every speck of dirt possible collect in them. I am SOO glad to be rid of that crap! We still have laminate here, but its wood flooring laminate, so while its still cheap, at least its prettier. You're probably right about it being the floors fault which is why I'm still using my wet mop.

I've been driving the hubs nuts with the nesting. I have the motivation and vision and I am making him do all the hard stuff, lol!

I make our own solution and use a wet jet. I just spray the floor with a spray bottle and go over it with the swiffer wet jet thingy. I hate mopping and refuse to do it. I'd rather scrub the floor on hands and knees. I think I never properly learned how to mop because I just make a mess when I try.

I just have to use water on my floors with my steam mop - Which I don't mind.

I wish our walls were beige! All 3 military housings we've been in have been white walls. But it's an off white - So they can rape us with the cost of having to repaint unless we specifically go into the office & ask for the paint color. lol.

Ahhhhh military housing!
