Today we finally had a break in the heat wave and I wasn't trapped in my house - I am not a heat lover and don't feel like doing much when it is hot.
I feel so GOOD right now and am in much better spirits after being able to move today.
I did about 4 hours of gardening - mostly weeding, dug over a bed and transplanted some stuff.
We also made it into the gym - I imagine I look pretty funny doing bear crawls, mountain climbers, and knee raises with a big pregnant belly. But who cares? I can still touch my knuckles to the floor and feel like my body is in good shape for birthing.
I know a few of you ladies are still pretty active - are you still enjoying yourself have you had to modify stuff like crazy? I have had to change quite a lot.
I'm still doing exercise videos in the morning, mostly yoga and/ or light weights, lunges, and stretches, along with pelvic tilts/rocks. I do feel much better afterwards! Only 20-30 minutes.
I've really decreased my exercise lately, just because I get so crampy if I do too much. It drives me crazy because I'm generally such an active person. That said, though, I'm still trying to walk as much as possible and am doing a little bit of calisthenics, like calf raises, modified wall squats, and shoulder flies without weights. I was doing a lot more until a couple of weeks ago, but it's getting much more difficult now.
Omg wasn't today glorious?! I'm so glad the heatwave is over - I'm not cut out for those temperatures either.
I'm doing lots of cooking for the freezer as I figured it hasn't been quite hot enough in here (I reasoned it's better to be a little more uncomfortable in the heat so I can kick back when the baby's here).
I've done a little bit of work in the garden but the sprinkler or beach have been so much more enticing. I tend to neglect my garden at this time of year anyway - it should just feed me while I throw a bit of water at it here and there
We took a break from painting but plan to finish it in the next couple of weeks now that it's cooled off a bit.
I've been sewing and am on the last of my diaper stash. I have a diaper clutch and curtains to get done before baby too.
We've been working on decluttering and reorganising the basement...it might be unpretty but at least it's cool.
I also helped DH bring in a big cabinet that we just bought for the dining room . I knew it was a bad idea before I even started but it had to be done. I'm going to pay for that one tomorrow.
This is me in nesting mode. Good thing we don't have the money for a reno or I'd be swinging a sledge hammer in the kitchen right now.
I walk up and down the stairs AT LEAST 5x day. . . I have to get in and out of bed AT LEAST 5x a night. . . And I have to get on and off the couch 3534534x a day and take care of/keep up with my toddler.
Does that count?
Props to you - I don't have energy to do much else then the basics around the house these days!
I have been working in the garden quite a bit. Today I run the tiller in the garden. I have been spending a lot of time canning veggies & fruit. Doing my usual chores outside with the animals. This heat is a killer & I have to make sure everything has fresh water.
Last week I spent half a day completely reorganizing our closet. I scrubbed the bathroom from top to bottom the other night.
I am feeling pretty wore out but really feel the need to have everything done. Very hard to relax!
Compared to my previous workout routine? Not even close lol just getting out of bed or getting up off the floor are a work out!
But I do walk about a mile a day in addition to being on my feet for 6-9 hours at work all day so I am still active enough I think. But anything more is just painful and exhausting...I am trying tho!
I can't wait until I can hit the mats again and roll and move and sparr. It's going to be hell getting back into shape!!!
Alan and I took my mother round Newgrange and Nouth yesterday - its kind of like Stone Henge in England only older and still has a roof! It was fun but the rain took its toll after 3 hours!
I swim maybe once a week, but everything is low key. I still clean, does that count? I also play with my active toddler and have a hubby who is working 12 hours a day these days, so I don't really have much "feet up" time.
I walk my dog at least every other day....usually later at night, but now that the heat wave has backed off a bit, I can up that to every day and go earlier! I swim once a week. I use the stairs at work a ton of times a day (I only work on the 2nd floor but I'm breathless after that!). Randomly I do wall squats....still impressed I can do them!
Isn't the break from the heat wonderful! Even my neighbours who overwinter in Florida were overjoyed for the cool weather this morning. I was thinking about gardening myself but I have some freezer meals I wanted to make today and I want to go to the gym as well.
Tomorrow its supposed to be hot and sunny again so I'll probably hit the beach since one of my friends will be in town.
I don't get much relaxing time, but I don't get a lot of specified exercise either. Just chasing three kids under 5, and taking care of the house/cooking.
I've stayed pretty active. It's hard not to around here. I take my dog on a 1/2 mile walk 2-3 times a day. I am still doing the yard work: weed eating, mowing the lawn, pulling weeds, edging the bushes, etc... My husband has Parkinsons-like disease, and using these tools make his tremors worse, so I try to do it as long as I can. My neighbor will take over when I have the baby until I feel ready to do it again. I walk on the treadmill on rainy days. When it's hot here, it's just hot and doesn't really affect my activity, I just take more water with me.
I've also been busy in the house. It's a fixer-upper so there's always something to do...
