these threads are so hard to keep up with for me but i'll take a stab at staying involved this month since i'm on maternity leave.
up at 6:30 am, just fed baby girl, so far so good....c-section was pretty much a breeze and she is eating/sleeping like a champ. of course i am not counting my chickens before they hatch, as i know that most newborns sleep & eat very well these first few weeks....but i am hopeful she will have an easy temperament like my son was. i read last night that 40% of babies have easy temperaments....so we have a good shot right?!
my next trick will be to get her to switch her days and nights. during the day she goes 4-5 hour stretches between feedings, sleeping the whole time. at night, she cluster feeds with 2 hour stretches of sleep between feedings. need to switch that around!
on another stressful note, my 21 month old son is NOT adapting well. he's sweet with her but he now totally hates ME! Agh! He can't even look at me without screaming, crying, flailing his head into the floor....he can't stand to be around me...it's so sad for me because he's my little buddy! We're so close and he usually wants to just sit in my lap and give me cuddles and hugs and tickles....so I really have been very tearful and sad about this. I know it will change and he will come around but still! boo hoo!! I don't like it at all and it makes me feel like a bad mom because I can't pick him up, put him down to bed, change his diaper or anything because of the C-section lifting restriction. Oh well, hopefully he will adjust better soon.
That's my update....hope you ladies have a great day!

I always get lost on these too but maybe I'll take a stab at it this month.
I woke up with horribly sore hips around 1 and between insomnia, gross sticky heat and cuddling with a slightly feverish boy haven't gone back to sleep. He woke up around 3:30 and I threw in the towel at 5, made some toast and tea and declared us up for the day. He's now fast asleep in my lap at 7.
Aw Melanie, that sucks. I'm worried DS will react like that too. I hope he comes around soon

I think we are feeling about the same way Cris. My hips and tailbone are killing me, we have the gross weather today too. It's actually pouring rain right now, which we need but it's so humid I can hardly breathe. I got up at 5:30 because I couldn't lay there in pain any more.
Sorry your little boy is having such a hard time right now, Melanie. Is there anyway the two of you can do something special together? Maybe play his favorite game or share some ice cream just the two of you to make him feel more special?

I am not the flavour of the month with my little boy either. He wants to hang out with his daddy, nanna and my DP rather than me. I *think* he's just worried that baby might come any minute and he literally thinks in his little head "any minute" even though we've tried to explain there would be a lead-up to it. I hope it doesn't continue after baby is born. Melanie xxx
I just usually read the last page of this thread before I post in case someone has recently posted up something I want to respond to, and if not I just randomly post my stuff. If I've missed a few pages it doesn't matter, I just pick up the chat wherever it's up to. Good to have y'all in here!

*hugs!* Melanie, I hope your little boy comes around soon!
Hope you're feeling better Mel and Cris!
Sophia was up twice in the night, and Rylan was up once with a nightmare. Alyssa's the only one that slept all night. Sophia does seem to be feeling a bit better today though, she isn't as cranky and clingy as the last few days.

That's a comforting stat - fingers crossed for us all.
It won't be long until your son gets used to the new normal, until it changes again!
Rich's new shift sucks big time - 10 until whenever! He was home at 8:30 on Monday and 7:30 on Tuesday. This is the 3rd time his shift has changed in 3 months so I hope it may change again. I need him to be around as much as possible this year, I am trying not to fret.
Feels like it will be muggy today - blech.
I am going to tackle starting to clean the porch cover so it's partly ready for Rich to paint - I also want to clean the siding around the door - it gets really dirty for some reason!
Oh, and the lovely weekly doc appt.

For those that have a hard time keeping up... no worries! I love posting in this thread because it's the one place where you can say anything whether it's relevant or not, lol.
Good morning everyone.
Still pregnant. Baby is on the move. I think he's trying to find his way out. Yesterday, he went from transverse, to ROA, to posterior, all the way back around to being LOA this morning. He's certainly working on something. His few hours being stuck in transverse were interesting... and I certainly did not enjoy the cervix punches. Hopefully he figures things out.
I wish there was a sign in there that says, >Insert head here<

Que....I think it's so cool that you know exactly where he is! I never had any clue! Must be easier to tell when you're small - maybe I had too much body fat to ever feel anything, haha!
Thanks everyone for the encouragement on DS. This morning has been a bit better, the only meltdown came when the baby cried, he decided to lay in the floor and cry too.
Someone please remind me why I thought 2 under 2 would be a good idea?!?

I was good about participating in the monthly chat thread for a couple of months, and then I got busy and gave up in July.
Melanie, I'm sorry about DS. I hope he'll want to be your lil buddy again soon.
Que, you must be going batty! I have everything crossed that today is the day!
I'm still at work. And I have two projects to finish before I go on maternity leave. Fortunately, they are not huge, so I'm hoping to wrap them up this week. That will leave next week to get everything in order for my three-month absence. My assistant is freaking out a bit, so having a week to put everything in place and reassure her will be good.

Yes! Six more work days (including today). I am tired, but still doing pretty darn well for being so pregnant. Everyone I see says something to the effect of, "You're still here!" or, "You haven't had that baby yet?"

Did you manage to get a nap in Melanie? We layed down for a couple of hours, which was nice but now the day is half gone.
Yay for painting! We're back to that too and it's awesome
Que, maybe he's trying to drill his way out of there?
Glad to hear work is almost done Adrienne
Are you feeling any better Sharron?
