I'm taking two capsules a day orally but am considering adding one vaginally as well - my question is do i have to break the capsule first, put a pin in it or just leave it intact to do its job? Also is there any risk of infection by doing this? Or should i just stick with taking the orally?

I do mine vaginally because I use it for my perineal massage, but reach further in than my perineum eventually if you KWIM. As I'm fanatic about making sure my hands are clean first I don't think it could cause infection. I lay on my back, hold the capsule just inside and squeeze until it bursts, then do my massage and spread it around in there. I have just upped it from 1000mg to 1500mg today.

A friend of mine from another board also said she did it vaginally by pricking a hole in each capsule and inserting them vaginally. Personally I'd rather not have the capsules lurking about inside so I prefer my way.

Some of it does tend to trickle back out and it's not the most pleasant of stuff so I'd recommend wearing a panty liner or pad after doing it.

Not sure which way is more effective, orally or vaginally. If you're at all unsure I'd suggest speaking to your MW or OB first and I'm sure they can make some recommendations as to what's best for you. GL!

Like Alice said, you can insert the whole thing and it'll melt away. I've gone back to only taking it orally because I was sick of the gooey feeling I was excreting all flippin' night. Every contraction I get at night wakes me up to pee, so maybe I was just up too often, but I felt like it was leaking out more than it was doing anything inside me. I've been taking it for 2 weeks exactly as of today and I was 50% effaced today. Maybe I wouldn't have been as far along without it, I guess next week will help decide if its worth it or not when I get checked again. If my bottle runs out before then, I'm not sure I'll go buy more.

What about just straight up 100% EPO moisturizing oil? Using it for massage inside and out...?

that should be the same stuff that's in the capsule. I just wouldn't care for the mess.

And yes many use it for perineal massage. I guess it would make sense to have it in a bottle if you were using it in that way.

It's a little messy. I just figured I would ask. I bought some at the health food store. It smells funny, but it doesn't seem to be that bad. I just wondered if there were any draw backs (besides the mess) from oil compared to capsules.

I do both orally and vaginally. For the vaginal ones I just stick the capsules up in there as far as I can and then they just melt away. I did find out though that my limit vaginally is 2. I tried 3 a night or two and it's like they quadrupled in quantity. I felt VERY leaky. I read that for the most part as long as you insert them RIGHT before you go to bed, usually they'll have the time to melt and do their thing before the first time you have to go pee. So I make sure I pee and then I go ahead and snuggle down in bed and insert 'em. I haven't had a vaginal check yet to know if it's done anything though.
