Elias has been having some small red bumps on his little butt when we change him. I started using the Butt Paste and it helped a lot to clear up the ones on his cheeks and under his little sac but now he has some right close to his anus and they bleed a bit when we wipe him even though we're very gentle when we do. Is there something else we can do to help him out? He poops a few times a day and it always seems to make it worse for him. We don't let him sit in a dirty diaper for long unless he's sleeping and we're not aware he has gone. Or when we're sleeping as well. But I don't like that he's bleeding at all. Any advice ladies?

Poor thing. Is it possible that he's allergic to the brand of diapers you're using?

I haven't had experience with this myself, but knew someone who did. It's was really acidic poop in that situation, and it was such that her son just kept oozing it all the time...not that he pooped and they could clean it off like with most babies. It just sorta kept coming out in tiny spurts instead of just big blast poops like what most kids do. I honestly don't remember what they had to do (sorry!), but I do remember that they tried a lot of special creams and such and eventually it got better....I just don't remember how . And, he just grew out of pooping like that..
Hope someone else knows more about this..

start by not using wipes. Just wash cloth with water. Always leave a layer of diaper cream on to be a barrier from the poop. Make sure bottom is dry.

Try switching your wipes. Harper had really sensitive skin and Huggies were too thick and not wet enough and made her bleed. Plus all of Alice's advice too.

You could also try bare bum time and keeping the sore spots coated in vaseline. Hope it improves soon

Great tips from the other ladies! I would also wonder if he was allergic to the type of diapers you are using?

Ditto on the not using wipes, use a cloth with water they really are more gentle and clean better (compare washing your hands with a wet nap compared to a real cloth and water) and let his bum air dry before putting a new diaper or cream on him.

Oz had a raw spot near his anus as well that I assumed could only be from wiping. I switched to cloth whipes and water to keep irritation to a minimum and it healed up in no time. I also use Vaseline on him when I change his diaper to create a barrier.
