Well, DH has gone back to work today. His 10 'free' days of "daddy leave" have ended, and our 12 hour days have begun. Thankfully, he's only working 2 days, off 2, on 2 and off 3. . . But these first 2 days are day shift (thankfully), but then he has to switch to night shift. . . Which means even on his days off, he has to sleep until at least 1pm.

Last night was my first 'rough' night with Adalyn, and it wasn't even had bad. She was up on and off a lot between 1-3am because of a gassy belly. I am guessing from our dinner, as it made me gassy as well. Thankfully she tooted it all out and then she slept on me the rest of the night. DD1 slept in a little bit, which was nice as well.

I've got my coffee in hand and I think, despite our rough night, I am ready to tackle the day. I am nervous how DD1 will do - She's had a rough time these past few days. I have to go to the P.O. to send a package today and I have a list a mile long of everything else I need to do this week to get this house back in order. While DH was a GREAT help when it came to taking care of DD1 and myself, he wasn't such a good house cleaner

The good news is that my mom comes out in 10 days - FINALLY! So I just need to get through this week and a half and then I'll have help/a break again soon and DD1 will get some quality Grammie time in with my mom.

Good luck making it through these next 10 days before your mom arrives. DH goes back to work on Monday, too, but my MIL arrives today to help out for 10 days.

Good luck. My mom is leaving soon and I'll pretty much be on my own. But the kids are starting up school, so I will have a few hours with just Ethan and myself before the chaos of 3 other kids kick in.

You will do great Allyssa. Don't stress too much over the house work, do what you can but don't go crazy if it doesn't get done. I'm sure your mom wont care if your house is messy!! And you KNOW E and A don't either!!

Good luck...you'll do wonderful! I'm nervous about when DH goes back to work, too. Thankfully, I have 8 more days to try to get the swing of things.

It's an adjustment but you eventually get into a routine and things smooth right out. I have DH here for a while yet; he's still between jobs which is great in the sense that I have tons of help, but not so great for our financial situation.

I know how you feel- Greg goes back to work Monday. I can get through the day just fine, but I'm dreading the night routine. This month he's working 10-6, so hopefully he'll be home in time for most of it, but being a cop you never can tell. Getting the boys home from karate after 8 will be the toughest - with showers and all that after. Fun times.

Thanks ladies - We made it through today. Somehow we haven't turned the TV on once since getting downstairs this morning (DD has been watching way more TV then normal lately). We also didn't have any meltdowns/arguements/timeouts until about 11:30 - Which was impressive. We ran our errand, got lunch and shopped a little in which A slept in the Ergo the whole time and E was very well behaved. Once home [at nap time for E], though, it was insanity. I felt like I had a 16 year old in my house who hated life. Hahaha. But we got through it, both girls napped at the same time and once up we ran another errand and came home to clean. I picked up the living room this morning, but you cannot tell. I feel like with 2 kids it's always gonna be messy now!! LOL. But my kitchen and dinning room are at least [mostly] clean so I call that a success!

Now it's dinner time and I have yet to start on dinner [just took something out, in fact, about 45 minutes ago], but we'll get there eventually!

You're doing a lot better than I did when Harper was born! Seems like you've got it all under control. Never doubted you for a moment.

Good luck!! I have been home with my kids since DJ was only 3 days old, and I still haven't been able to get into a routine to keep up on my housework and still have time to do everything that needs to be done for the girls on a daily basis and keep up with the every 2 hour feedings for DJ. My DH works 12 hours a day and is just exhausted by the time he gets home from work.
