So another lovely lady suggested using my breast pump to induce labor. i have read that nipple stimulation gets things going and i have done "self" nipple stimulation and i have gotten contractions as a result but nothing significantly strong at all and they NEVER last.
i am curious about pumping to encourage labor, my question however is this. i plan on breast feeding...
what would this do to my colostrum supply?
**NOTE: i have gotten a few different EDD's, as of one of them i am 3 days over due, and by the rest its this week so i am "term" my doctor says im good to go and if he doesnt come this week i will be induced the 27th...id rather get things going naturally one my own...
Having tried every natural induction method I've ever heard of, all I have succeeded in doing is making my body progress some, still no labour. So I wish you luck with whatever you want to try but there are no guarantees and a lot depends squarely on your body and your baby. We'll get there hon.
I think it's going to hurt like a mother trucker and you could irritate your nipples before you even get the chance to nurse your baby. Personally I wouldn't do it and let the baby come when he's ready.

I would also not do any natural induction. Personally, I wouldn't opt for a medical induction either in your case. There's no need for it. But yes, stimulating your nipples releases natural oxytocin into your system. So does orgasms. So does eating chocolate and smiling Not all induce labor though.... but they are fun.
Lol I have a selection of chocolate bars in the frig courtesy of my mum who went to the shop this morning. I thought I was just being naughty asking for some chocolate to cheer me up...now I have a big excuse to eat it and not feel at all guilty.
Nothing worked for me as far as the induction tricks go. She did come2 days early but I had stopped trying to make it happen. Its kind of funny though that I had my ob appointment and the dr mentioned induction if she didnt come by a certain time and then I went into labor that night. Lol
It's amazing the amount of people I've known whose water has broken the day they're scheduled for induction etc lol. I was scheduled for induction on 22nd August with my son, and my water broke on the 20th. It was a long road, they had to induce me anyway due to no established contractions on the 21st, and he still arrived on the 22nd in the end. But had I been induced "cold" on the 22nd he probably would have been a couple of days later I guess. Hoping this will happen to me this time too, I will get my date tomorrow, likely to be Thursday/Friday.

I went into labor the day before my NST was scheduled, lol. I kept thinking in my mind that I knew what the OB was going to say if I stepped into that office and I was DREADING the battle with my doctor, colleague, and friend. I think it's a BIG reason I went into labor. My midwife said it too. She said, "nothing will put an overdue mom into labor faster than a doctor's visit or scheduled induction" Lol.
I ended up doing some self nip stim after a nice warm bath and I was actually woken up with some really hard contractions to the point I stayed on my couch last night so I could get up and use my yoga ball half asleep without risking falling half asleep down a flight of stairs.
They tapered off this morning but after I ate I've felt them start to pick up a little again. Radiating very painfully thru my back and forcing me to breathe thru them without talking (my test of how strong they are is when I have a contraction I just randomly start talking or sing a little song) well with these I couldn't do anything but make funny noises and breathe. So I take this as a good sign.
They are still to far apart and taper off at one point but the last 2 days they have gotten stronger.
Either way I know it's soon, I was just curious about the idea of pumping to help things along.
My doc appointment is Wednesday. I've got my fingers crossed I go sooner...
My induction was scheduled for 10am and my waters broke at 4:30 that morning! talk about cutting it fine!
As far as pumping goes i would hold off and instead run yourself a warm bath, grab some moisturizer and try stimulating your nips yourself - if nothing else it will soften the skin so it will be easier to bf
