So I haven't really had cravings or aversions yet. Mainly, nothing tastes very good. So if something does pop in my head, I eat it. And I'm usually disappointed but not disgusted, until today.
Before becoming pregnant, I had been vegetarian (minus the occasional sustainably-farmed, humanely-raised piece of meat), for 1 1/2 years. I was never a huge meat eater, and it was just something I decided to do. However, after getting pregnant, I decided to incorporate meat into my diet. I still mainly try to live by my tenet of only humanely-raised and sustainably-farmed meats (without antibiotics or hormones, etc.). However, if I decide I want an In-n-Out burger or chicken tacos once in a great while, I go for it.
So I wanted something spicy for lunch and went to Chipotle. I ordered the chicken tacos. Got back to my office, took a bite out of the first one and felt yucky. Not like I was going to throw up from nausea, just like disgusted by the food. I continued to try to eat it, but I had to throw about 85% of it away. The chicken seriously made me want to hurl.
I think it's safe to say that I had my first real food aversion, and it's honestly not surprising that it was chicken. As I type this, the thought of it is kind of making me sick again.
Who else is having food aversions?
