I had one with my daughter no issues.

I had one today. And the doctor said expect to see some spotting, but it's just irritation and superficial. . My cervix is sore. Again I can't remeber being sore, but usually I'm not pregnant.

Any experiences?

Last pap I had was when I was pregnant with DS. I had maybe the teeny tiniest bit of spotting, and that was it. But your cervix is more sensitive during pregnancy, so it may very well be irritated.

I'm due for mine and I am super worried about getting it while pregnant... I don't want them messing with things up there! I'm sure they know what they're doing but just the thought makes me nervous.

I'm wondering, if I just had mine done in July, do I get to skip it now?? Wouldn't that be nice!

I frequently spot after my pap. I think maybe with pregnancy you are a little more apt to spot since there is more blood flow to your cervix??

I would say the same as Jamie, b/c of the extra blood flow and general "swelling" down and around there, that it would be more sensitive/prone to spotting.

You could ask your doctor if they'll hold off on it. Or you can just refuse.

With PAPS I usually always spot...I am just more sensitive, With my last pregnancy, I had a pap like 2 months before I got pregnant so I did not need another one. Also with this pregnancy I got a PAP in July so I do not believe the Dr, will want another one

They'd probably do a pap after your 6 wk pp check up . I had mine in October. Delivered dd in June. Then at my 6 wk check did it so my year was in August.

Thanks ladies for sharing your experiences. If I wasn't overdue I'd skip it. I am super sensitive right now.

My midwife does a pap at the first screening appt if you would otherwise be due for one at some point during your pregnancy. So at my appt last night, even though I'm not due until later, I got one anyhow. She said it would be normal to spot for a day or two and sure enough when she did the pap she said it was bleeding a little bit. After I left I had a very small amount of spotting but nothing since...

I typically spot with paps. As Jamie said, being preg makes for increased blood flow to area and pain/spotting are more common.

I refuse the pap when I was pregnant with my son and will do so with this one. I'll have one at my 6w pp check up. It makes me nervous and I know there are no issues.I had my last one in Oct. of 2010 and most other Western nations don't recommend them yearly for my age bracket.
