I was just checking out the most popular list on babynames.com and noticed that the boy list includes Emmett, Jasper and Jacob (no Edward, how shocking!) and the girl list includes: Isabella, Bella, Esme, Alice, and Rosalie.

Anyone surprised? Because I am not. They're all fine names and I'm not "dissing" them, but I just find it amazing that Twilight is so unbelievable viral that parents are starting to name their babies after the characters. Amazing.

My daughter is an Isabella. She's named after my grandmother. I've had people (strangers) ask if I named her after the books.....I was like, seriously?!? Who does that....?

Isabella is very old fashioned name that's only come back over the last few years. We call her Isabella, Izzy and sometimes Bella. Although, Bella is my least fave....

I think the name Rosalie is beautiful though.

I know and it sucks...pardon the pun It's not fair. Movie/book franchises ruin very beautiful names for us. If you have a family name or a name you just love and have always wanted to use for your child, and then some book that uses it becomes a huge hit and everyone and their sister is using it so if YOU use it, you seem like a groupie It's so unfair.

Whoa! So cool! This is the first time I have actually seen Emmett appear on any list. (family name in our case). What surprises me though is how very different this list is from babycenter.coms's just released list of most popular 2011 names. Like how can they be that different??

My friend named her baby Emmett Carlisle I reallly, REALLY like the name Jasper, but because of Twilight Chris won't let me use it stupid Twilight. (p.s I don't not like Twilight, I do when it stops me from using the name I love ).

Haha I had Cullen picked out for Lainey if she would have been a boy but my hubby had vetoed it

Isabella has been popular for ages as I know when I had my Gabby there were at least 4 Isabella's in my online mommy board then! I do like the name though

Suggest Edward Jacob or Jacob Edward just to see how your DH would react

I think my DH would strangle me if I suggested naming our child after a character in twilight.

Pop culture has always been a major contributing factor in baby naming.
