I've heard of the Baking Soda test
The Red Cabbage Test
Draino Test
Ring Test

then there is intelligender and one other test for sale but I don't remember what it is called.

I just tried the baking soda test, not sure if it works this early or not, but I had no fizzing unless I stirred vigorously. not sure what else I'll do, maybe the cabbage test...

I've never heard of anything but the ring test, and then the baking soda test on my other post today, so I'll have to google and try some just for fun! I won't do the intelligender, though. It's around $40 at CVS. My 15-16week u/s to check gender is only $50! Seems like a waste to spend that much when a little patience and $10 more dollars will tell you for sure in a few more weeks.

Ami, did you put the baking soda in first and then add the urine or did you PIAcup first and add the baking soda after. I see the directions for both, not sure if it makes a difference either way?

I put the baking soda in a dish, then added an equal amount of urine - when nothing happened I added more pee - ew! LOL

I'll try it the other way next time.

Theortically, I don't think it'd matter either way, right? If it was going to react, I imagine it would no matter which was put into which. I just did it, too. PIAcup (only a small amount), and added a tsp of baking soda. Nothing, zero fizz...Even when I moved the cup in circles to make sure the baking soda was completely dissolved...no fizz?!?! I guess the first test predicts girl....hmmm....

it really shouldn't matter it isn't like it is a highly sensitive chemical reagent! LOL

I think I'll try it again see if FMU makes a difference or not.

I just tried the baking soda test and got lots of fizz. So that means boy? Will be interesting to see how accurate it is for all of us.

I thought fizzing meant girl.
I had no fizzing.
I didn't measure the baking soda. I just dumped some in, and I didn't have to pee much so there wasn't much in there.

I agree, that seems too much to spend on a "not sure" test! I do think though it would be fun to try some free at home tests!!

I don't plan to do the intelligender test either due to money. Seems like a waste. Maybe if it was like 99% accurate! I'd be willing to do the others but am not sure how. Does it matter the amount of baking soda?

I heard that the baking soda test (and possibly the other homemade tests) work best at 10 weeks or later, so I'll probably start trying them then and see if they are accurate

I probably wont do any of them. I have never done them before, but maybe I will ask dh if he wants me to do them to see what they say.

tried it again and again no fizz - added a splash of vinegar to make sure my baking soda was still good, and it is.

I'm sure I'll try it again at some point - it's not like it costs a fortune

Ami, you're not the only one!!! I tried it again, too, this time the opposite way...adding the urine to the baking soda...still nothing, not even if I swirl the cup or stir it up!

How do you do the red cabbage test?

Hmm...I'm interested in the baking soda. What's the reasoning behind this? Different chemicals or something in your pee with a boy or a girl?

And what is the cabbage test?

I did the Gender Prediction Kit (its like the draino test) and it was right! You have to do it when you're at least 12 wks for it to be most accurate!

the baking soda will react with how acid your urine is

I'm not sure on the cabbage test what it reacts with - probably similar

I did the baking soda test and added urine last. I'm not sure whether it was fizzy.. It had bubbles right away but didn't fizz like soda. Apparently i'm complicated, haha. Next time i'll try baking soda last.
