My doctor only does u/s if medically necessary and just bases due date on LMP so unless something changes (spotting etc) I won't have an u/s done until 20 weeks. I know it is always hard for me to wait when "everyone" seems to be getting an early u/s. So I figured I'd see who is not having one done in the first trimester so we don't have to feel like we are the only one missing out on an early u/s.

I'm not totally sure that I will, and I'm okay with that. =)

Our insurance changed this year, and we lost the practice I used to go to. We were left with the option of seeing other residents (uhh, no), or two other docs. I called and made an appt with one, and found out he only does an u/s at 20 weeks. It drove me crazy all day yesterday thinking about it, so today I called back and switched to the other OB who happens to be married to another resident DH knows. She does an early u/s, and since my last pregnancy was an ectopic (without ANY signs of it being ectopic) I really want to see that baby in the right spot early on. I feel ya though- it'd be ridiculously hard to wait until 20 weeks to see your peanut.

Since I'm with a fertility specialist they will do early monitoring/ultrasounds. And I would like to have an early ultrasound with everything that has gone on with my diagnosis.

I most likely will, but do not have a date set yet, nor do I have a Dr picked out!

I don't think it is standard practice with my midwife. I am going to give it my best shot though and see if she'll write up an order for one for me. I'm just really nervous after the miscarriage a couple months ago, and I can't shake this twins thing (I know its not likely but it's bothering me).

ok well maybe the reason I feel like I'm the only one is because I am the only one - haha

If they went off LMP for me - they would have me due in in Early august - apparently knowing when you ovulate is not as accurate as LMP - lmao I have always gone for a dating u/s because I have really long cycles, this cycle was almost 50 days long with a BFP at 15dpo.

I don't know how I'd make it to 20 weeks!!! My MW does one at 8 weeks to make sure all is well and to double check the dating, then the one at 12 weeks is optional (nuchal fold test), but we have always done it with my others. Then, we go get the optional 15-16 week one to check for gender, and then the last one is the 20 week unless there's a necessity for more.

I'm so sorry you have to wait! It'd drive me crazy!

If I get an early one, I promise I won't talk about it.

The OB that am going to also does not do early ultrasounds unless there is something wrong or you are high risk. As long as they let me listen to the heart beat at my first appt i will be ok! long wait till i will see my little baby.

I'm going to a birthing center and they don't require any u/s the whole pregnancy. Its completely up to the patient. We are doing an early one (my reasoning being its the best most reassuring way for me to see that all is ok), and then the gender scan at 20 weeks. I felt 2 u/s was a good amount with my son but am not into doing more than that unless medically necessary. I'm not one who will get several just for the pictures or what not.
