So....I'm dealing with constipation. Like BAD, like sit on the toilet 3 hours this morning bad...

I don't deal well with stomach stuff. I took two Colace and I have a call into my doctor. What other advice does everyone have? I can't be alone in this!

nope. I don't think I've gone in like 2 or 3 days.

when I was in labor with DD I asked them for something and they gave me warm prune juice! Totally gross but worked like a charm! I am not that desperate right now though! LOL

I ate an apple yesterday and it helped me some. But the dr warned me that zoloft would cause constipation...I just didn't realize it would be this bad

I take a colace every day to keep on top of it, but usually have 2-3 days of no going, then a day of purging.

gross - I know.

I'd start taking the colace every day.

Ask about miralax. you can give it to little ones so i would think it would be safe to take. its very effective!! also see if your vitamin contains a stool softener. if not you may consider getting one that does

I had it HORRIBLE. *super tmi* like had to 'manually assist' the BM. Yea, bad. Anyway, after two 'GOs' like that I went to my doc and he said it's a side affect of my zofran so I stopped taking it. I took 2 colace and that helped start things and I follow it by taking metamucil regularly. There is also a suppository that is safe to take but I'll have to look up the name. Dulcolax I think?...

I really wanted to avoid the suppository only because I have visions of it being horrible...weird, I know. I was told to take a Colace daily, and then to take Milk of Magnesia today. I'm going to Walmart later, and plan to pick some MOM up. Oh yay, I remember this from the end of my last pregnancy, but not this early, and never this bad. The suppository is next though....

i eat lots of apples, gave up the coffee bc of the caffine i make it way to strong to be safe. myralax works ok for me, it expensive and doesnt have results for a cpl days so i don't buy it, just toughing it out for now! if i complain hubby says "your complaining, so you wish you weren't pregnant?" and then i grin n bear whatever side effect im undergoing.

i drink a glass of metamucil daily and it helps. When i'm having REAL trouble i take a children's glycerine suppository. Its just enough to get things moving without being uncomfortable.

Well, the Milk of Magnesia worked. Sad that I am thinking "sweet relief". Seriously, I feel so much better, but exhausted. What a horrible day.

I will stick with a Colace a day, and keep the MOM on hand. I am going to try to drink the 3 liters of water my doctor recommends each day, but it's hard because water makes me feel icky. I swear, there's always something. Thank you ladies for your advice!!

My doctor said that I needed to increase my water intake to about 70oz a day to help relieve my constipation issues. I was taking two Colace with my dinner and added the extra water. It really helped and got me back on track. I hope you find what works for you soon!!

I try to eat lots of fruits, it usually helps keep things moving. The best ones for me are grapes and melons. I also like those prunes that are individually wrapped.
