Anyone planning to do it, or already done it with prior births? I just read about it tonight, and told DH. He is completely weirded, and grossed, out. I have to admit though that the effects they claim it has seem pretty amazing. I think I would totally swallow a pill of placenta if it really worked...LoL. It's not like I'd really taste it, and I'm sure I've taken some vitamins or pills in my day that have tasted MUCH worse and had God knows what all in them anyway...

I've never felt the need for them personally, but I've met a number of women who swear by it. I've heard a lot of great things. My midwife will do encapsulation if I request it. I've talked to my hubby about it too and he is totally grossed out by it but would go along with whatever I wanted.

Nope. After my last homebirth we donated my placenta to a K-9 search and rescue team for training.

^^ That's what my hubby says too. I highly, highly doubt that we'd (read, I'D) do it... I had never heard of it before. The pictures from last night though-- pretty sure that was enough placenta for me.

Ive heard a lot of great things about it. my husband is creeped out by t too but I dont see any prob with it! I am definitely considering the encapsulation. freezing and eating chunks of it on the other hand is a little too much for me!

I don't think there's anything wrong with it but i won't do it. It seems less gross being in a capsul, not like flat out eating it. If you really want to see something gross check out this teddy bear. Its a bear completely made out of the placenta. Talk about disturbing!

This totally isn't for me. I'll just eat some spinach and steak instead

My last time around there were a few people in my pregnancy group that cooked and ate the placenta. They shared recipes for stir fry and shepherds pie.

Prior to JM, I never even knew this was possible.

I *think* I would be too weirded out by this. But, I would never say never. If I had major PPD issues last time, it might be something I would consider. Knowing there is something available that might help me would be a great bonus.

OK in the defense of ppl that DO do it, there are supposed to be a lot of great benefits, and honestly, I don't think the idea of it being encapsulated is that weird.

BUT- BUT- eating it in a recipe?!? I'm sorry but that is just TOO much.
