LOL, I remember when I was pregnant with my twins, I kept trying to use the HB theory to determine their sex. Sometimes baby A's HB was higher than baby B and sometimes it was opposite. It turned out they were B/G twins....so since neither of them had a consistently higher or lower HB, it didn't really work for me either!
It has proven accurate for my last three pregnancies, but I'm sure it's just coincidence!
Ah, don't give up yet! I'm right there with you in the girl wishes! I wouldn't trade my 3 boys for the world, but seriously, isn't there a girl out there for me?? My friend here never finds out what she is having before delivery and she's had 5 boys so far. She is pregnant again and she says she's definitely not finding out again because then she can at least buy ONE pink outfit ready for a girl and have more time to dream, ha! Also, she said you can't be disappointed when you're handed a perfect little healthy baby that it's not the "right" gender.
I have always wanted a girl, I was disappointed when I found out with both my boys - it didn't last long, a few hours maybe a day or 2, and I know I will love another little boy just as much as I love the ones I have.
This is our last pregnancy, DH has put his foot down, the wallet is already stretched too thin, and I am getting too old for this -ha!
I am trying to keep myself grounded and remember from my track record that I probably have a better than 50% chance of another boy.

LOL - No smacking intended! Just how I tell myself to think about this since I do so want a little girl! More than anything, I really want this bean to stick! Today marks the day when I started cramping and spotting with my last miscarriage. Only this time around, with a surprise pregnancy and all I don't have another pregnancy to look forward to and hope for. Although my husband is being fabulous about a surprise pregnancy, I can't hope for more than that.
I do not remember the heart rate of my first four children during pregnancy. I will have to get DH to dig out all of my pregnancy books. I have them all put away deep in storage area With them I have all that information wrote down. I have 3 girls and one boy. My DS wants a baby brother so bad. DH and I would also like to have a boy this time. No matter what I will be happy. However, I really want to have a boy! The baby's heart rate was 172 during my ultra sound the other day. I have read online that boys have a slower rate and girls have a faster rate. However, I also read that the more active the baby is at the time the higher the heart rate will be. And the baby was extremely active during my ultrasound! I'm going to just keep an open mind!
The heart rates have not been an indicator of gender with mine. DS#2 would have such a huge range of heartbeats from one appointment to the next (low 140s one appointment, then next upper 170's) My doctor said it usually has more to do with if they are resting or active the baby is at that time. I guess that would be a little different in very early pregnancy before the baby can move much on its own.
We got our little girl after 2 boys so it might happen

My son's heartbeat was definitely more "boyish"...started out in the 156 and was 144 by my 14-week checkup, and stayed that way for the remainder of my pregnancy. Having said that, I really don't put much stock in the h/b test (or any of the old wive's tales) as a gender predictor

All 4 of my girls were in the high 170 range these two currently in the 150's. I am praying for boys but 75% chance these two are girls. Dh and I will be happy either way but I would loathhhh to have some boys. Maybe that will be surprise number 2, we will know for certain in another 8 weeks.
