Here are a list of fortunes I've come up with to put in some fortune cookies at a family party coming up to announce our pregnancy. It is a total shocker of a pregnancy for us, and pretty much all the family knew we were "done" so it will be so fun to see everyone's reactions!!

Please, if you have other ideas help me add to the list. I would love lots of variety! I put this up in case anyone out there wants to do the same sort of thing. You are free to copy them and use them yourself.

Be prepared to accept a wondrous new life in the days ahead!
The smart thing is to prepare for the unexpected, especially once you're expecting.
A member of your family will soon have an unexpected expense and responsibility.
Happy news is on its way to you.
Nature, time and patience are required for new life.
There will be an exciting event come harvest time.
A pleasant surprise is waiting for you come September.
You will meet an important person this September.
A member of your family will soon do something that will surprise you.
Congratulation! You will acquire new friend in September.
Lots of Chinese food makes a healthy baby.
Now is the time to congratulate a family member.
You will find the end of something is the beginning of something new in September.
It's a good thing you like your family. It is only going to grow.
Your 3 words of the day: Unexpected Happy Congratulations
Children are like clovers, best in groups of 4.
Expect a new blessing under the Harvest Moon

I need a few more if everyone is going to have a different saying at the party.

I'm not too great with subtlety (can't spell), so I won't be much of a help. But this is an awesome idea!

Oh, I really like the "pushed" !! That's great! Thank you for helping me!

Oh, here's another one someone in my playroom suggested:

What a nice idea.

Here are some thoughts:

Your family will experience an increase in joy.
Great love will add to your good fortune.
Good things come in small bundles.

Are you going to swap the fortunes or order cookies custom made?

I knew someone who ordered announcements in custom made cookies and they were great. The only problem was they had to order 200 cookies. Luckily fortune cookies are cheap

I am going to either tweeze them out and replace the notes or "steam" them individually to soften them for a few seconds, open them up and replace the note, then put them back in original shape quickly. I tried one already and it works great!

I wrapped a cookie in a moist paper towel and microwaved it for 20 seconds. Worked like a charm!

Any other ideas pop up out there? I'm getting them ready to print tomorrow!

I believe I felt the baby yesterday and again today, and it has given me the courage I need to go ahead with this idea. Squeal!

Did you end up doing this? I know you said you were thinking about waiting until 15w or maybe having your kids share the news. What did you decide? How did it go?

You know, my husband and I decided to have my son announce the baby when we were all together for his Baptism. It was so cute, really, and the fortune cookies wouldn't have had the same element of surprise to them to the entire group of 45 people at once! I loved looking around the room and seeing everyone's reactions to him and then the focus turn to me and my slight bump, ha!

I did use fortune cookies to tell my three boys and they were SO cute reading it! I took a movie of it and my 2nd grader read his fortune long before my kindergartner figured out what his said. It was hilarious because Adam (in K) thought it meant that he would get a baby doll toy or that he personally would have a baby. He was delighted but didn't really believe the fortune at all until a few minutes later he asked "it is telling the truth?" I used their names in the fortune like so:

(2nd grader) "Brent, Guess what? Matthew is going to be a big brother!"

(in K) "Adam, a new baby is coming to our family!"

(2.5yrs ) "Matthew, mommy has a baby in her tummy!"

All of that sounds so sweet. Your boys' reactions, especially.
