During my u/s today when he was moving around getting diff views of the baby he got a rump shot but it looked more like the back of the rump if that makes sense... Anyways I didn't see any little boy bits there but I'm wondering if he was too far behind to even be able to see anything. At what angle should you be able to see boy parts?
When I go back in a couple weeks I'm gonna ask him if he can tell me, I really hope so!
Honestly at your gestation..it would be almost impossible for anyone to tell..There is this whole angle of the dangle theory but even thats a gamble..I was told at about 14 weeks with my second pregnancy it appeared I was having a girl...I had a boy..another friend of mine had the same thing happen..Probably best to wait until the big 20 week ultrasound just to make sure..and if they do decide to take a peek..take their word with a grain of salt..totally don't go painting the nursery until the big US appt..LOL
At 12 weeks, you're baby is usually too young to get a good potty shot. The genitalia looks so similar on babies at this age. You need a side type shot for the "angle of the dangle" nub theory at this age, but even that's a guess at this age.
Ditto to the other ladies. It would need to be a profile shot where the nub is visible. The theory is that if the angle is 30degrees or greater from the spine, then it is most likely boy, but if the nub is less than 30 and more straight out, then it would be more likely to be a girl. And it's only a guess at best. If you have a potty shot, then it will always look like there's boy bits at 12wks. The two techs were split on what they thought my baby is at 12wks, LOL, if that tells you anything, and they both have years of experience under their belts!
Now, depending on the type of machine your office has, by 15wks it should be clear and no longer a guess. My dr office, as well as the elective places here, begin doing elective gender scans at 15wks. I'll be having mine Sat at 16wks, because the tech said by 16wks for sure, there is no more question with the advanced machines.

When I go back for my follow up I will be 15 weeks and they have a very clear picture on the screen of the baby. I am going to ask if he will take a guess at the follow up and then see if the 20 week u/s matches that one, but I'm not even sure if he will look for me.
