Right now I have a unique work schedule. I work when they need me and honestly we like it. It's perfect. When I work it makes my kids and husband realize how much I do around the house and being away from my family working makes me appreciate my time at home so much more. My husband makes enough money for me to be a stay home mom but our babies are all in school so I enjoy working and it feels good to bring in extra money. Today my boss asked me if I would be interested in going full time up until the baby comes. My husband is not a huge fan of me doing it but I'm not convinced it wouldn't be a good idea to take it. She needs an answer by Monday. I'm worried if I don't do it they will have to hire someone else full time and I will no longer get to work my schedule I am on now. Ugh, I really don't know what to do.
Yikes, that's a tough one. On one hand, working full time till the baby comes is pretty short term and it could allow you to bank money in savings to use when baby is brand new and you aren't working at all. It could really come in handy then.
If your kids right now are all in school then maybe I would evalute the ways in which life would change if you took the full time hours, such as...what time would you get home? would your kids need to go to day care or after care after school? Would you have enough time in your evenings to do the things you are used to/like to do such as homework help, dinner, family unwinding time? Can your hubby pitch in with some of those things? Will it affect any family or kids' activities?
How do you feel about it? How does your family feel about it? Benefits? Negatives? I would just try to weigh it all out along with your hubby so you can make a decision that is best for all of you. I know that isn't so helpful but that's all I can think of!!!! Let us know what you decide!
Angela made a great suggestion of weighing the pros and cons for you and your family. Its definitely a personal decision. I didn't do well working full time while pregnant, i was way too exhausted so i know personally i would continue to work part time but that's just me. I hope you figure out the best choice for you!
