I agree. I'm not giving the baby furniture that costs more than my own bedroom furniture does ... We haven't even bought our own yet! LOL. I like the sleigh style too like you picked. I'm trying not to spend more than $500-$600 on the whole nursery ensemble (crib, dresser, changing table, glider).
this baby is getting DD's crib and glider, then I'll just buy a changer to add. Bella will keep her dresser and nightstand and we are going to buy her a twin bed to match. I spent a ton on her furniture (1800 on sale, yikes!) and this time our financial situation is different so we won't be spending a ton again.
We will be using the same crib we used with both our other children...and the rocker/ottoman too...although I think I want to recover the rocker and ottoman. Our crib looks a lot like the one that RedRose posted above
We don't 'do' the crib as we are a co sleeping family. HOWEVER, if the babe likes to sleep on their own we have use a basic pack and play. DS1 went though a phase (a couple weeks) were he slept better on his own and that is what we used.
DS 1 also was moved into the pack and play by 15 months and was in there until after age two.
