Is pelvic rest strictly no intercourse (i.e. any kind of penetration, etc in that area... I understand that...)
Or is there more to it?
I'm on pelvic rest right now bc I was having more spotting yesterday that was red and she mentioned no intercourse but nothing else. She said bed rest would not do any good so I'm assuming other normal things are okay??
Location: Just moved to Pineville, LA from Fort Polk, LA
are you talking about other sexual things or normal daily activites? You should rest as much as you can avoid alot of bending and heavy picking up, the thing with sex is the orgams stimulate uterine contractions and can iritate the cervix and cause more spotting. just rest!
It depends on your specific situation, Danielle. I would call the dr for further clarification. If it's something like placenta previa, then yes, it would limit much more than sex. However, I had spotting with one of my pregnancies, and was also put on pelvic rest because she didn't want anything irritated my uterus or cervix, but she specified that, for me, pelvic rest meant not intercourse. She told me it was perfectly fine to continue all other normal activities, including exercise. If they were general about the term "pelvic rest" and gave no further instructions, I'd definitely ask what she meant is specifically included in what she's wanting you to do just to be safe!
I agree with Katie that is depends on the situation. I've never been on pelvic or bed rest but i assume pelvic rest would mean resting as much as possible but not being completely restricted to the bed.
