I originally wasn't handling this, but given the circumstances, I guess I had better step up.

The Title that won was "Under the Apple Tree"

what are your thoughts on this for requirements:

100 posts IN the DDC AND 30 days active in the DDC

I'm not exactly sure how I will determine who meets the requirements we decide on, hopefully a more experienced host can help me figure that out...

My opinion is the requirement for posts in the DDC should be 150 to be safe but i'm okay with it if everyone else is.

Sorry i'm not sure how to know who meets the requirements...

150 is fine with me.. I was just going on what other DDC were doing - I've never set one of these up before.

I think those requirements are good.

My concern is for later on. I know in my other PR, we have posters who would only go to the private forum, and then not post on the regular board, and it kind of made me a bit uncomfortable. So, is there any way we could have requirements, like 2 posts on the regular board a week, just to make sure we don't have any private room "stalkers" if you will? I'm not sure how this would be monitored, I just know that some people will hurry to get the 100 posts, and then stop posting, and, IMO, that's not the point of the private forum. I wouldn't want "non-regulars" to have access to it....but maybe I'm just paranoid?

that is a good idea, but I have no idea how to monitor that, nor will I have the time with 3 kids to keep track of who posts when..

In theory I like it, in practicality I'm not sure it would work.

I like 150 posts and then you have to be active in the ddc (at least 30 days). If you need help Ami, until Jenna is better - let me know. I was a co-host for my Feb '10 DDC.

You can do a search on the members and see who meets the requirement, post wise. It's a pain but the way we did it was have people PM us when they met the posting requirement. Then we would check and send them the password.

To find out how many posts you have, you have to go to:

-Search Forum
-Advanced Search
-Type in your Username
-Find user by posts
-Make sure only Sept 12 ddc is checked

You will see something like this at the top: Showing results 1 to 25 of 382. So this means I have 382 posts in here.

yeah, I was planning something like that for the initial requirements. But I know I won't be able to follow through with a 2 posts per week kinda thing to keep active membership.

Yeah that would be a little much to keep track of to be honest.

Well I haven't been active much in September DDC since I was fooled into believing I was due in October (and only recently learned otherwise), so I guess I am a little concerned I will be left out of matters in the private section.

I know October is considering the idea of invitation only. Is that a possibility?

I think we could have the 2 post a week requirement and then people would just PM you if they feel a member is not meeting the requirement. So, rather than monitoring everyone all the time, you could look into those special cases where a member feels someone is abusing the privilages.

By the time this happens, we will have been together for a while so it should be easier to tell who's active and who's not just by "knowing" them.

ETA: I'm fine with whatever requirements we put into place now. We can always change it when we are a more mature DDC or PR.

I think Karen has a great idea that way you don't have to monitor everyone.

Yeah, I like this. I think it's a good idea to look into things if anyone feels uncomfortable with someone/something, regardless of the 2 post requirement. To me a private forum means everyone should be comfortable posting there, so if someone is making them feel otherwise, I would hope that would be acknowledged.

I like it Karen, takes less work from the hosts. I can already tell who the active members are vs the semi active vs the not so active members. So as we get further along, it will be better to keep track of.

Karen does have a great idea, plus I'm sure that we are all going to know who is a regular, and I'm also sure we will all just "know" who posts only in the private forum. I know it would be a hassle to keep up with any post requirements beyond the initial, it was just an idea thrown out without much thought put into the idea.

I'm fine with all this so far as well. My only concern is the private forum becoming the "cool kids club" as I've seen on other forums I've belonged to over the years.

I understand wanting everyone to meet posting requirements, but it does stink for me
