Would this bother you? If so, what would you say or would you ignore it?

DD has a friend who receives services for speech. DD has recently started copying the way her friend speaks. I have only heard her doing this at home or with us. I am not sure what we should be saying if anything. DD has been struggling with some sound combinations, but now I can't tell what is copying and what she is really struggling with. Plus, I don't know if her friend hears it at school. If she does, I don't want DD to make her friend feel uncomfortable (KWIM?). The more I say something to DD at home, the more she does it. Ignoring it seems like it might be a better option, but I am not sure that is the right answer either. Any ideas?

well from a btdt mom I have to say ignoring it is the better way to approach it and when that word is needed by you to say it, then you say it the way you do correctly and she will keep that.. trust me kids tend to copy and repeat and so forth and it sucks. I know my 4th son done it alot and I nagged him only to have it thrown back in my face. Sucks.. so my advice, ignore it or perhaps if she is saying a word..ask her to repeat the word that you feel is incorrect and say oh you mean like this....and see if she would copy you, and if she repeats way her friend says ..then giggle and say oh ya *this word* and carry on.
Know what I mean?

I find I am doing this with my 5th son cus he stil isnt talking, hes babbling..and I have to fix his words and try to figure out what hes saying. Ugh.
