On Friday I went for a facial where they used lotion and massaged my arms at one point. I noticed Friday night I was getting a small rash but didn't think much of it because my skin has been all sorts of unusual with this pregnancy. I didn't shower until Saturday afternoon because we were driving home from FL to VA. I figured the rash (which I noticed while driving had spread to my hands) would go away once I showered and that it was just a reaction to the lotion. Today, I still have the rash, it itches a bit and parts of my hands and arms are bumpy. I noticed about an hour ago that my forearms are a little swollen also. I took some children's benedryl this morning and the redness from the rash had gone down but that's it. We don't have adult benedryl but I'm wondering if I should even bother getting some or if I need to just see a doctor. Also my hands are sore. This is the same reaction I get from latex but to my knowledge I haven't been in contact with any. Thanks for the advice!

It sounds like it's an allergic reaction, but I would call your dr and get their advice. It's most likely nothing, and they'll probably tell you to take Benadryl and call them if it's not starting to go away in a couple of days or gets worse, but they usually (well, at least my MW does) want to know when things like that are going on so they can check back with you in a couple of days. I hope it goes away very quickly!

It definitely sounds like an allergic reaction to the lotion they used. Also, its very possible she was wearing gloves while giving you a hand massage. It's hard to tell the difference with all of that massage lotion. When I was in school for skin care I used to wear gloves sometimes if my hands were really dry or if I just needed a break from all of the goopy lotion!
