Have you had to take off your rings you wear in your past pregnancies?

Do you put your wedding ring on a necklace and wear it if so?

We weren't married when we had DD, so I never had to tackle this. But already with the heat out here, I can feel my fingers swell up and I'm nervous about having to stop wearing my wedding ring. I know it is just a ring, but I get so nervous about the thought of not being able to wear it. I'm debating on either wearing my ring on a necklace if it gets to that point. DH and I were together for 6 long years before we got married, so to me, the ring is very symbolic and meaningful to me.

What is your experience and if you had to remove your rings, did you wear it in another way? What did you do?

I never had to remove mine, even with swelling in August heat. I wore them at the hospital too.

I've never had to remove mine either. I do like the idea of wearing them as a necklace if I did have to take them off

I never had to remove mine either. If I did I would definitely wear them on a necklace.

I have had to remove mine before. I use to wear one of my dh's dog tags, so I would just put my rings with that. I haven't wore that in awhile, so I am sure my rings will go into my jewelry box when I have to take them off.

I usually don't wear mine, just because I don't go anywhere.

BUt this pregnancy they are fitting better than they have in past pregnancies. I've lost weight more toward the beginning and my BP has been really good so far

I had to take my engagement ring off because my fingers are swelling so I am going to put it on a necklace. I have been wearing this ring every day for three years so it was hard taking it off (emotionally). Yes, i know long engagement for those of you who were thinking that. We are both military kids and still have insurance and benefits from the military that we loose if we get married. We have been together for seven years in DEC.

We dated for 3 years, and then my DH proposed when I was 8 months pregnant with our first. So I was already swollen, and the ring fit perfectly. Then after she was born the ring was loose, and always turning. It got on my nerves, so I went and got the spacer things, and meant to get it sized, but never did. 4 years after that, I got pregnant with our son, and the ring got tight, so I took off the spacers. After he was born, it was loose again, and I said "Im not dealing with this again", and had it sized, so it fit perfectly. I know my hands will swell again, but my ring is smaller, so Im assuming I will have to do the necklace trick as well. The problem with that, is I never take my rings off. I would have to remember to put the necklace on and take it off, and My rings are way too expensive to take a chance on losing, so I'd prolly only wear it on special occasions.

I didn't have this problem last time but i guess i can assume there's a good chance i will since i'll be big all summer and lets face it.. so far everything about this pregnnacy has been different! I assume if my ankles are swollen already my fingers will follow suit at some point. ha! I've heard of people buying a cheap fake ring and wearing it on their wedding finger for the short duration of pregnancy. This is probably what i'll do since it seems it would be weird for me to walk around without anything on that finger.

Last time I started swelling BADLY in the last 3 weeks, so I did have to take mine off. I wore it to the hospital on a necklace, but not anywhere else, just b/c it's so valuable and I worried the necklace would break and I'd lose it without knowing.

right around this time last pregnancy my rings got tight so I bought a fake set and wore them. After the heat seemed to die down, I was able to put my regular ones back on....I'll do that again if needed but I haven't had any problems yet

My first pregnancy my hands did get pretty swollen so I had to take them off but I have a new set now that he got me and if they get that swollen again I will put them up just b/c I am so scared something would happen to them...... I am built small so the swollen part of the pregnancy with my hands, feet and ankles kicked my butt!! lol

I had to take my rings off last week already. It was very hot and my hands started to swell. The swelling only lasted a few hours so I put them right back on, but with my promise ring I'd probably just put it on a chain. I've never gone more than those few hours without having it on me.

Sadly I've never been able to fit back into my original wedding rings. I took them off around 6 months with DD1 and even though I've made it back to Pre-pregnancy weight before my hands (knuckles) just never reverted. Blame that awesome ligament loosening for adding sizes to your rings and shoes

I've never had to remove mine, even through the heat, but I've also never had any swelling in my pregnancies, somehow. But, if I had to take them off due to swelling, I think I'd lock them away in our safe until I could wear them again. I never take my rings off and they're too valuable (not only monetarily, but sentimentally) for me to risk losing them. I worry that I'd unintentionally lose a necklace. My kids are accidentally snagging and pulling my necklaces all the time, so I wouldn't personally risk it.

I like the idea of buying a fake set to wear. If I have to remove mine, I'll buy a nicer fake set to wear for the rest of the pregnancy!

My MIL had to have her wedding ring cut off when she was pregnant with my SO. They had to get a whole new band made for it, she said it really sucked. She had Preeclampsia though so her swelling was more severe than the average individual. Just keep an eye on it.

I thought about that too, just buying a cheap, fake band to wear if I need to! My ring is already a little tighter than usual with the heat here (its reaching 90s already). And when I was pregnant with DD, I had awful swelling & pitting edema in my ankles, and it was in fall in California, which is not hot at all!

I never thought about just buying a cheap band, but I think that's a wonderful idea. I would feel really weird without a ring on that finger too. My finger havent started to swell yet, but it's gonna be a hot summer, and I'm in Florida, so I'm gonna be on the look out for an inexpensive one I like.
