Hi Everyone,

My husband wants to join the YMCA and he wants me to join with him. The indoor heated swimming pools are pretty tempting. But I was wondering if they are safe to use? Has anyone used one when they were pregnant? I'm mostly concerned about the water temperature and the chlorine levels.

i always swam when pregnant - in indoor pools, the ocean and even in the blue lagoon in Iceland where the water is very hot. Water temperature is only a concern if it's so hot that it raises your body temperature too much. i don't think a pool will be that hot. i don't know about chlorine levels though.

Yes, why on earth would they not be safe?? The hot tub should be off limits to you for more than a min though. You can always put you feet in.

The amt of chlorine in swimming pools isnt enough to harm anything..I actually asked my doc about this during my first pregnancy and again its only a concern in hot water..I think youre ok..LOL

The only issue is hot tubs.

Enjoy the pool mama. It'll make you feel weightless!! LOL. I LOVED swimming when I was pregnant with DD... and I plan to again most of this Summer.

Went swimming today and it was fun! I also had a concern about germs because I'm a little germaphobic and a bit more than usual since becoming pregnant lol. But they had two in door pools, one was a play area for little kids and the other was a lane pool with half of the pool closed off for swimming. Not many were in the lane pool so I swam in there. It was quite fun! I really like the facilities!

I take baths like it's my job during pregnancy especially this one when I've been sooo cold!! If I were a member of the Y I would totally take advantage of the indoor pool

I'm looking forward to the summer when I can walk 2 streets over to my parents house to go swimming

My daughter just finished up the "mommy and me" lessons at the Y last weekend. That meant that mommy swam too The only issue was I thought the water was too cold. Hope you enjoy your swim time!
