So now that I see we have quite a few ladies who either do CD or have tried it a bit.... I'm curious what you guys have to think about the Flips & GroVia hybrid diapers?
I have been reading a bit about the hybrids and love the idea. I just am curious if the disposable inserts even stay put. When we used gDiapers, I loved how cute they were and how they really stayed put, but the liner inside and the inserts (whether you used disposable or cloth) would move around and create a huge mess. No bueno.
I have read good reviews on both and I'm not sure if I should spend the money on the GroVia or go with the more affordable Flips?
I've never used either of those. Have you checked out the CDing forum here? There's a lot of CDing mamas in there
I have a lot in the past, and I just feel like it's overwhelming in there! I honestly don't know where to start and it scares me away from it all! lol! I just need something simple and easy! I'm pretty much in love with the BG's bc they are so easy, but I really like the idea of the flip or GV's and they also seem very simple. I also just realized that the Flips are actually made by the same company that makes BumGenius diapers. But the GV diaper inserts look sooooo soft and fluffy!
HOnestly..Ive tried the flips and hated them..they don't contain poo well and if you use a prefold with snappi the front and back little flaps get wet..if youre looking for simple and easy I'd go with pockets..they are awesome for just about everything including babysitters..Some of the well loved brands are bumgenius, fuzzibunz, nubunz, kawaii's and a bunch of others..and as far as the diposable inserts..its essentially a disposable diaper but you will be paying way more for them..Honestly..Im using old fashiond prefolds and flats and really like them..its intimidating at first but with 5-6 trial runs on a teddy bear I got it down..LOL
I can tell you we plan to use Sunbaby pockets for "easy" days stuffed with prefolds instead of the inserts because we never have stink issues with those. DH will only use pockets. One time he tried to use a prefold and it was a bad, bad day lol. I will use prefolds and either covers or wool when it's just me.
We do have BG newborn AIOs for the very beginning for nighttime for DH.

I LOVED flips and can't say enough great things about them!! I tried several other kinds first and my son always leaked in them. He is very thin so his legs were never chunky enough to fill them out. Flips are so wonderful for lean kids and pretty much never leaked poop. I'm actually shocked to hear someone else had that experience because i've only heard great things from everyone else who's tried them but everyone is different
I used the stay dry cloth inserts. I tried the disposables inserts but they are so much more expensive so i thought what's even the point of using cloth? You might as well buy disposables!
I also tried grovias and those were my 2nd favorite diaper, also good about poop leaks but i got tired of them because i had to change them more frequently than the flips (more than every 2 hours) so it was a bit too much work for me.
I got some flips and didn't really like them. They fit my son weird and honestly I found them much more work than just using pocket diapers. I never tried them with a disposable insert though. I never had a leak in them or anything though so I say go for it if you want to try them.
. Thanks .hOOdihoo.this. for another beautiful siggy!
I think the best bet is to try and find a used flip..and a few other options to try because what one mom loves another might hate..A lot depends on the size of the baby and whether its a boy or girl etc..You'll eventually work out a plan that works well...When I started cd'ing...I was hell bent on pockets..but after recieving my diapers and realizing they were HUGE..I had to pick up some prefolds and covers until my daughter grew into them...at 7 months..ugh..Yea..Im just now using my pockets..granted she's a very small girl.
