I'm looking at crib bedding online, and there is jack squat that I like. Nothing. Seriously NOTHING.

I think I'm going to make my own bedding. Normally this probably wouldn't be a big deal, but with my son, my furniture and antiques business, and just keeping the house in order I hardly have any time... and did I mention I've never made crib bedding and the most that I usually do with fabric is upholstering? LOL.

I've never tried something and completely, outright failed yet- so I'm hoping that I can fumble my way through it (tutorials online look easy enough). Wish me luck. I'll be back with fabric options sometime to see which you all like best!

sounds like a plan. I'm not even bothering with this baby. I barely used my cute bedding with my son. It just got in the way. I'm getting a cute sheet set (maybe a bedskirt) and some new curtains.

I totally hear ya. I looked too and I peek in the stores when we are shopping and I can't find anything I like either. So instead, my gramma is going to knit a blanket to match the color scheme I pick, and I'm going to get a cute crib skirt and sheets and curtains! I got the idea from thelandofnod.com I love their cute knit options!

I made a blanket, bed skirt, mobile and curtains to match when I had DD. It was really pretty simple, although the bedskirt took awhile with all the gathering of the edges. And then I just bought some plain colored sheets to match. I loved the finished product! I'm sure you will do great if you make your own! Can't wait to see what you come up with!!!

I cannot wait to see!!! I think that is an excellent idea! Not only would it save a lot of money but it would be so much more special as well! I have a mini sewing machine I ordered recently but I really want to get a full size one. I haven't sewn since high school, but I think I could do well with tutorials and videos as well

Good luck and I would love to see the fabrics you choose as well!

You ladies who are skipping the bed sets, are you buying any bumpers? I was thinking about skipping it too but still really up in the air whether I need a bumper or not.

Aww I think handmade would be sooo much nicer!

We're skipping bedding for now but I'm making DS a quilt. Haven't decided on fabrics...should get working on it.

Ashley - we're not using a bumper when we switch to a crib because we had bad experiences with them with the two younger girls. But it's your choice

I would totally just reuse DS' baby bedding...if I could, but SOMEONE *cough, cough* MAY have thrown it in the wash without looking to see that DH had thrown brand new red shop towels in the bottom of the washer. Needless to say, it came out pink, so we need new bedding!

There are so many cute options, and I've had a hell of a busy weekend working on a dining table for a lady, and then Thursday USA Today is coming to our shop to take pictures and write an article on it, so I have a lot of work to get done before then too. BUT- after that, I'll show you some options I'm thinking about!
