This is actually a new idea to me since becoming a member of JM! I had never heard of giving the older children a gift from baby. I thought it was a cute idea and was going to do this until I realized my kids are older and would definitely know it isn't "from" the baby. I am guessing this idea is for much younger children?
Is anyone going to get their older children a gift when the baby is born even if it isn't supposed to be "from" the baby?
The more I thought about it I decided I don't think I will after all. Maybe just something to announce their new baby sister; such as a pin for their shirt. I was thinking t-shirts but I think only my youngest dd would even want to wear one. My older children would probably think it isn't cool for their age, lol!
We will probably do a little something. I had always thought of it as a little something so the older children won't feel left out when they see everyone oohing and ahhing over the new baby. Not sure what we will get them this time, maybe some kind of activity book that they can color/work in while at the hospital. My kids will be 5 and 7 when this baby is born.
no I doubt it, once the inlaws drop off the boys it will just be us an no one to oooh and ahhh... I think they will be alright with out another present, baby will be born during our month of birthdays so the boys will be getting plenty of presents!

We will be doing it again. Another thing I did which I'll be doing again was buying lots of little things from the Target $1 bins and throwing them in a bag in the hall closet. I'd also add toys from kids' meals if we did fast food (DD was only two and didn't notice the toys yet!). If we were having a particularly long day, or DD was being a really good girl, or if she needed a distraction so I could do something else (like those marathon early nursing sessions) I'd let her pick something from the bag.
Well, in theory, I would say no. I think a gift "from the baby" seems a little odd. BUT, DD has her daddy wrapped around her little finger and so anytime we are away from her he likes to bring her little surprises. It's usually nothing huge, just a $1-$10 range, so I'm sure he will pick out some kind of surprise for her when we come back from the hospital, even if it is a freakin' cupcake lol.
We aren't really planning on a special gift for my step-daughter (10) when little Isaac arrives. I thought about a "Big Sister" T-shirt but I think she's too old for that now and wouldn't find it very "cool." We might get her some flowers or something, but nothing over the top.
