Reflux SUCKS. Zantac, reglan and prevacid are not working. (No, she wasn't on them all at once.) The alimentum (liquid gold) formula isn't working. She is vomiting after every single feeding. Our pedi referred us to a specialist at the University of Michigan. They think she might need surgery. I really hope that isn't the case.
Please keep us in your thoughts. This sucks so bad. She was awake from 12pm-1am yesterday. Crying, eating and spitting up. It was hell.
From my understanding, the meds only help with the pain/discomfort of the spitting up - Not with the actual spitting up. My first daughter spit up all.the.time for the majority of her first year of life. . . She wasn't in pain, though, so she wasn't on meds at all. She was still gaining & meeting milestones - So it was just something we had to wait out for her to out grow, which she did.
poor thing! hoping you get some answers (and relief) soon!
we are dealing with it, but on a much lesser scale it sounds. some combination of soy formula, a bit of rice cereal, zantac, staying upright 45 mins after feeding, and then laying on left side (heart down) is working tonight ....she's actually been asleep for 4 hours.....feels like a voodoo rain dance doing 10 different things our doctor asked us to do....but i'll take it!
hang in there mama! hope you get relief soon.

Oh you poor dear. Reflux sucks. I've been through all of it with Kev. It was so bad he ended up with an umbilical hernia. Zantac and alimentum helped some, but not the cure all. Only time will cure this one. Just be glad you figured it out so early. Kev had months before we figured out his problem.
❤ Big Thanks to Vicki, trishosaurus, & Shortcake for the great siggies of my kids! ❤

Lurking, but wanted to comment: My youngest had awful reflux and could not tolerate breast milk, regular formula, or alimentum/nutramigen. We ended up putting her on medical food (I believe it was called Neocate.) It was basically pre-digested food that came in powder form. It took a few days, but it really made a difference! We had her on Prevacid but that took a few weeks to help. We thought it wasn't helping but stuck it out and it was a Godsend! Our pedi on call also mentioned surgery, but when we saw the pediatric specialist, she was livid! Surgery is rare. If you end up on the medical food, it's very expensive, but if you have insurance, it should be covered as long as your doc writes a prescription. Hang in there. It does get better!
