Who has given baby their first bath? Did they scream the place down or did they actually seem to like it?

If you haven't, when do you plan to?

I ask because I plan to do Michaela's tomorrow now her cord has fallen off - eek! She doesn't even like getting her clothes off so I'm pretty sure she's gonna scream!

Adalyn wasn't a fan of her sponge baths - But her real baths, she loooooves. In fact, she gets one almost every night because it calms her down [aka-gives us a break from the screaming] during her fussy time. She gets so calmed and relaxed in the tub. . . [I don't wash her every night, usually every other, but she just sits and soaks in the water.]

Tuckr's cord has fallen off but it's still slightly gooey inside just barely so I am planning on giving him one tomorrow night! I'm excited! I think he will really like it actually!

The bath part went well, as long as I kept pouring warm water over him. It was getting out of the baththat he hated. Cried so hard that he almost turned blue. As soon as I got him bundled in his towel and held him against me, he calmed down.

His first bath was with me. He did great and nursed most of the time. I dont expect him to like being in the tub by himself yet, and we didn't buy a baby tub, so its much easier for me to hold him anyhow. I love our bath time!

She's been ok - a little fussing in the tub, screaming during the drying off/dressing stage. The last couple have been very calm though so I'm hoping she's starting to enjoy them now

Ethan hates getting a diaper change or his outfit changed, so his baths are screamers.

I bathe with her and nurse her as well. She loves it! She likes having her hair washed especially.

Carlie hates sponge baths, diaper changes, and clothes changes so I am sure she will hate it. Her cord fell off at one week and I have been putting off a real bath, gonna have to get over it and do it soon though!

have not tried yet. SHe just gets wipes downs with a warm washcloth. Her cord left a raw spot when it fell off. Now there's a scab and I want it to heal.

Yes, gave him his first the 2nd week, right after his stub fell off. He screamed bloody murder. Of course, I think I had the water a bit cool for him as his mouth was quivering But since then I've made the water warmer and we use a large wash cloth to cover his body and pour water over it every few seconds to keep him warm and he does so much better. Now he only cries when he gets out.

I totally want to do this. I'm just chicken. I fear he'll still scream and want out, plus I want to make sure the water isn't too warm because I like a hot bath or I get cold too easy so not sure it would work for us.

I make it about 100 degrees. That was the temp of the water he was born into and is plenty warm without scalding. If he screams in a bath by himself, I think it would be better for him to be with you because at lease you would be there to comfort him. Try it out! But have someone like your hubs near by to help you with the baby upon getting in and out of the tub. With my others, I had a baby tub that sat across (shortways) the big tub so I could put him down when I was getting in and out. I can't find that tub for the life of me since we've moved.

Anna has had two baths now and she was pretty neutral to the whole experience.

She has had such dry skin that as soon as her cord fell off I bathed her with oil to help it. I took some pictures but she absolutely would not look at me she just stares into the mirror... and it wasn't until after I looked at the pictures that I realized how dirty the mirror is lol

We have a big oval sink so I just put her right into it, with a towel lining the bottom to keep her from slipping and sliding to much and I let the water just poor onto her belly. She is really only laying in a couple inches of water but it is soooo easy to wash her in there.

Noah had his first bath at 2 days old - the nurse did it and he screamed the whole time.
We give him a sponge bath 3-4 times a week - he hates it but you get the best cuddles afterwards! We dont have any warm water at the moment so im not going to give him a proper in-the-bath bath for a while.

I haven't given him his bath bath yet. I've wanted to make sure his belly button is totally healed first!
I really want his first bath to be with me too. I'm just not sure how to do it lol. I'm sure I will figure it out. But I am worried about the temp too since I LOVE hot baths. I'll give it a good try tonight. His belly button is all good and I look forward to more bonding!

Screamed bloody murder through his first tub bath. Screamed half the time with his second. Screamed only when getting undressed and then out and dressed the third time. And last night he cried a bit when getting undressed then loved the bath and the whole oil and lotion process afterward. He gets a bath once a week.

This made bath time a great success for us!
