Last night Luke was super fussy. He started crying while my oldest dd was holding him so she brought him near me & I talked to him & he quit crying for a while. Several times through the night if I put him down & he fussed, if I talked to him he would quit for a while.
With my oldest dd, she loved for me to talk to her. Talking to her while changing her diaper would keep her quiet. With my other 2 girls talking didn't matter.
Does hearing your voice help calm your baby?

It depends - Sometimes she gets so pissed/is so uncomfortable that nothing really calms her. She loves me singing 'You are my sunshine' to her, though. She'll also look at me when I call her name sometimes - Not every time, but she does it enough.

Pippa just wants my boob or to suck on her Daddy's pinky finger. If she has one of those, she's a happy baby.

Yep, he knows me, he even calms down when I walk in the room...DH is a bit jealous.

ohhh yea. i talk to him ALL the time, so when someone else has him or if i have to set him down i talk to him or sing and he will track my direction and get really quiet like hes focussed on trying to find me.
he also smiles when i talk to him when he first wakes up. i generally say "goodmorning handsome" and he will smile and wiggle a little like he is snuggling closer. its just amazing

If I talk, all she does is open her mouth looking for the boob. Same if I pick her up. DH can have her for 30 minutes and she is wide awake, alert, just looking around not looking for food at all. The minute I get close enough for her to smell me or I say something she does the "baby bird" mouth.

I think so. She has been exclusively smiling at me. My hubby has seen her do it, she lights right up when she sees my face or hears my voice. I think it's made him a little upset.

Yeah he does. He also responds to his big sisters voice as well as DH. With DH and myself he mainly follows our voices, with T his face lights up and he's all smiles.

She definitely responds to mine and DP's voice. She wasn't settling in her crib earlier on, and me and my mum were in the dining room doing online shopping, we brought her through here in her bouncer and she was soon happy as larry listening to us talk, then dozed off.

Yep. When he's being changed by someone else he'll turn his head and stare at me. If I move it'll take him a little bit but he'll look around and find me. If he's crying and I come near and talk to him he quiets down. He definitely knows me. Makes me feel like a rockstar.
