Dj is doing great!! I can't belive that he is already going on 7 weeks old...He is sleeping 4 or 5 hours at a time during the night, wakes up to eat and get changed and goes right back to sleep for another 3 or 4 hours. I had to go back to work this week and it was tough for me. I decided that I was full time before I had him, but decided that I only want to go back part time up to 20 hours a week until at least after all the holidays...
When DJ was 2 days old the pedi said she heard a hear murmmor, and wanted him to see a cardiologist. I made his appt and at 6 days old he went to his cardiology appointment. After the resident dr listened to him for what seemed like forever, she said she had to go talk to the actual cardiologist and would be back in a few minutes. She left the room and came back again about 20 minutes later to listen to him again. She left the room again and about 10 minutes later the cardiologist came in listened to him and said that he could hear a clicking sound and was worried about it.He said that we needed a better look at it so he could decide if DJ would need to have surgery. He sent us back for a U/S echo on his heart that took close to an hour, About 15 minutes after the scan was done he came back in and said that the good news is that we don't need to do surgery as of now. However his aortic valve opens funny but closes just fine, and we will have to monitor it for the next few years and have appointments every 6 months to make sure that it doesn't cause any problems as he gets bigger. So his heart just has a funny sound that they can hear pretty well, but he is healthy.
The pedi also told me at his 2 day check up that his hip was a bit lax, that it is common in a lot of newborns and not to worry that we would check it again at his 2 week check up, well it was still the same at his 2 week check up so she wanted to see him again at 1 month old, it was still pretty lax, so she sent us for a u/s. I got the results of his u/s and they show that he has a hip dysplasia, and now has to go see a orthopedic dr to see what our options are. WE are hoping that it isn't a severe case and can be corrected with a brace over the next 6 weeks. He goes on Friday to get fitted for his brace and to see what the orthopedic dr thinks. Please send positive thoughts our way that this can be corrected with the brace and we don't have to face a surgery!!!
