So this morning I woke up and the bottom of my right boob hurt SOOOOO bad! I figured it out to be a clogged duct. I started noticing the slight sorness the night before wen I went to bed but just didnt think anything of it. Thankfully though I think its just the clogged duct, I havent had a fever or the other big signs of it being mastitis. So I nursed Matthew from that side first and I think he got the plug out but I'm not sure yet. So for the most part today I made sure he nursed from my right boob well so I make sure I get it unplugged. I also massaged the area frequently today as well to help.
Its still been a little sore/tender all day but I had read online that it can feel like a 'bruse' for up to a week after. That is so painful and no fun! So I'm hopeing I got in unplugged but I will find out in the morning for sure though!
Yes, and it turned into mastitis twice. So sorry you are dealing with it. What helped me was resting as much as possible, hot baths and feeding a lot. It took a few days before the sore area felt better.
I've gotten a couple. I've also found feeding frequently off that side, massaging, and particularly massaging it in warm water from the shower or bath to be helpful. Mine didn't turn into mastitis. Sounds like you're doing the right things!!! Hopefully you've cleared the duct up!
I think I had some in both boobs when I was weaning, but I also noticed that my bra had something to do with it! I actually slept in a bathing suit top for a couple nights because it was more loose and felt better. I don't know about you but when I was breastfeeding I HAD to wear a bra to bed, or I would leak puddles all over my shirt and sheets. That's one thing I don't miss at all - the leaking! Anyway, one thing that felt good for me was putting hot water from the faucet in a water bottle, and holding it on the sore areas. It was like a makeshift heating pad. And make sure you massage it a lot.
