My whole family has had a vomiting/stomach bug. This mprning I woke up and started throwing up and so did Micah hers is projectile and she hasn't peed all morning either. Do you think I should keep nursing her, even though she is throwing it qll up again? I'm scared of her getting dehydrated. I want to avoid the ER if possible because it would mean bringing all five kids and I am still throwing up qnd dizzy myself i am also worried that i'm going to get too dehydrated to feed her soon, because i can't keep any liquids down. Ugh, what a day
Yes, nurse nurse nurse! Do they have Pedialyte where you live? You can get her some of that, too. Maybe call her doctor to see if it should be watered down. As for yourself, keep taking sips of water whenever you can, or suck on ice chips. Even if you throw up, you are still getting something in your system. Just keep taking tiny sips! Hang in there mama, that is awful!
The advice is always small sips frequently. Even if you're feeling parched and very thirsty, just continuosuly take small sips of gatorade, powerade (or the equivalent of a sports drink where you are) that has electrolytes in it. Drinking too much at once will most likely cause it to come back up so drink a little at a time.
As for Micah, maybe follow the same rule? Let her nurse for only a few minutes, but frequently, so she's getting just a bit at a time and less likely to throw it back up as well. Maybe do 5 minutes every 30min to an hour until she's better and holding it down and then gradually work back into a normal nursing to see if she can keep down a full feeding? I'm just brainstorming here. I would honestly probably consult her pediatrician in that case because I've never had a nursing baby with the stomach bug to treat.
So sorry y'all are so sick!!!! Prayers that this bug leaves your house SOON! Take care and get well!

Definitely keep nursing Micah. I agree that you should try sipping drinks so that you are less likely to throw it up. I really like Katie's idea to take that same approach with baby Micah. I also think it would be a good idea to call her pediatrician, so that they can give you advice as well. I am praying for you, Micah, and your family. I really hope all of you get better very soon!
Thanks ladies! I am feeling much better this evening and Micah has kep her last few feeds down so i think it was was of those 24 hour things. I took your advice and fed her little and often and it worked, although it did make her really mad that she couldnt nurse as long as she wanted, lol.
dito, keep nursing and sip on pedilyte yourself or gatorade, there amazing with helping to say hydrated. try the pedilyte popsickles there great to suck on and will give you small amounts at a time so your body can get the electrolytes.
