I know I haven't been around as much lately and I just wanted to fill you guys in on what's been going on with our little family. A few weeks ago, my company merged with one of it's international partners and since the new owner has a fully-staffed marketing department that handles North American marketing/communications in Baltimore, my position as a Marketing Director was eliminated and I was laid off.
It's been really stressful since DH is in school full-time and I have always been the primary earner in our household, but my company did give me a generous severance package so we should be able to stay afloat for a few more months. I've gotten interviews for 3 of the 4 jobs I've applied for so far, so hopefully something will work out soon. If I don't get something soon, we might have to start looking into relocating, which I really don't want to do.
Emily's school was paid up through the end of February so it's given me a lot of time to job search (and work on a free-lance website and social media project for my BIL) but as of this Friday, I'll be a SAHM until I find something. It's really weird not having a job to go to everyday...I've had a full-time job for so many years (even during undergrad and grad school) and I've always been really career-oriented and enjoyed working. I love spending more time with Emily but I really kind of miss going to work every day
Oh gosh Melissa, I am so sorry I can imagine how hard it is for you to not have a job to go to, harder emotionally than anything else. You poor thing I hope this only means that you outgrew that job and now a better one is out there just waiting for you, and in the mean time at least you can rest a little and spend time with Emily.
