Ok, so, it was just one night so I know I am speaking too soon, but with all of us dealing with sleep issues lately I feel compelled to share a success if it can encourage anyone. I had posted last week that we were basically in a nightmare with sleep. We had a huge improvement last night and for no apparent reason! I kinda wish it was that we changed something so that it would give others a new idea to try, but, nothing I can put my finger on. He didn't sleep all through the night, but instead of waking 8-10 times, he went down at 7:30 and got up twice before we went to bed ( once to nurse and once when he let us pat his bottom back to sleep). And then he ate again at 1:30 and slept until morning. This is closer to how things were a while back before things got terrible.

I have hope.

It might all go back to "normal" tonight, but I still just had to update. I will be so interested to see if something changed on its own. Like I have mentioned, with our fourth baby, he went through similar rough patches and grew out of them without many obvious changes on our part. I really hope Vincent can prove to be capable of the same.

Editing to add an update from first morning nap... It wasn't a long nap, but he. Woke. Up. HAPPY.....playing in his crib!! Normally, he wakes up crying and fussy until we pick him up! To me, this is such a positive sign. This has always been a point of demarkation with the other kiddos. Waking happy from a nap and them getting that positive association with their crib has always seemed to lead to easier sleeping. Lord, let it be so!!!

Another edit....holy moly, he is down for nap two today and out of my arms, I cannot believe it! 30+ minutes!!! I hope this lasts....if so, there is hope for us all, girls!

Hah, well, so far, the evening hasn't gone quite as smoothly. :-/

He was beyond himself tired at 5:30, so i tried that for his bedtime, but he woke up four times between then and 8..... Each time he was happy to go back to sleep while rocking and nursing, but would wake almost the instant I laid him down. I turned the light on and he is playing in the floor until he gets tired again. Just going to reset and try again soon. I have so much less patience for pushing through on the nights dh has to work late. Normally he would come in to pat him back to sleep, but when it's me, he just says, "mmmmmmaaammmmmmmaaammmmmm" until I nurse him. Oy.

Its definitely harder when they see the food source! I know that Cam can go 4 hours, so when he wakes on that 2 hour mark and DH is awake, I send him in. It also helps so Cam doesn't get surprised when I go out (e.g. to have a hot tub with my sister) and he comes in. Its still ok to him and doesn't send him into hysterics.

Hope the beginning of the night is the hardest and it improves here on out.
