We have an estate plan and a guardianship plan. The kids would go to my husband's sister and the money would go to his uncle as Trustee, so that he would disburse as he sees fit for them as they grow up. This is of course if something were to happen to us both at the same time.
Me (34), Hubby (42), DS (2 years) - and baby DD (born on 7.24)!
We don't have one yet but I talked with DH about this just this weekend and told him we need to get it done. Both of us are only children, so if we both passed away, he'd go to his grandparents, but we don't know if it would be his side or mine yet. maybe shared? So much to think about.
Yes I've got one though really I need to update it to include Michaela.
In the first instance if something happened to me each child would live with their dad. I wouldn't really want them split up, but I don't see how I can prevent that and hopefully they would still get together to do things with their nan, plus Chris and Shaun get on well and I'm sure they would make sure Daniel and Michaela did stuff together. After that it would be up to them what happened next.
Yes, we do. And their guardians will be good friends of ours. I did just recently start second-guessing our decision tho'.
Do you think it would be better to keep them in family? But then how do you pick which ones??
No will, though we should have one. We asked my cousin to be the children's guardian if something should happen to us. I need to get it in writing though, because I have a feeling my crazy mother would fight it.
