I get gummy bites...I'll be holding his hands while he walks around and he'll just turn his head and bite my finger I am not looking forward to teeth! Even now, I tell him 'no biting' and remove my fingers. We had a bird that bit and we always said 'no bite' and I find myself saying that sometimes

Ouch! That hurts. Luke actually drew blood when he bit me last wk. Very sore. I don't think he did it on purpose. I wasn't paying attention when he tried to latch on and got nipped. Thankfully, he didn't clamp down like he used to before teeth.

I've always taken them off the breast (assuming that's what she bit), say no sternly, sit them on my lap facing out in a bear hug (restraining their arms) kinda like modified time out for 20-30 seconds (a long time for a baby), then turn them around, tell them I love them, give them a kiss and try again.

I agree, if it's during nursing you tell her "No bite." and take the boob away for a few minutes. Only took once for Harper to get the drift but she's a sensitive child. If it's any other time good luck with that. She's experimenting with her new chompers. Make it clear we don't bite and give her something to bite on that's acceptable.

I will have to try the "no bite" thing... she got me good all three times and it hurt and I yelped and she pulled herself off and just kind of looked at me like "what?" LOL

She bit right through my nipple the other day. It bled for a week.

Try not to yelp or make a face because she'll think it's funny and do it again to see if she can make mommy make that face again.

Connor gummy bites me too while looking up at me with a big cute grin. I tell him "no bite!" firmly and stop nursing until later. Kailyn used to bite me all the time when she got teeth and I kept bleeding. She'd clamp down and pull off and it hurt for ages. I couldn't get her to understand not to bite (because of her syndrome) so I had to stop nursing her at 16 months. Fortunately she didn't cut teeth until after her first birthday!

I'm hoping that telling Connor "No" will work. He obviously has some understanding already because he stops himself from doing it if I catch him fast enough. Little monsters!

Pippa doesn't have any teeth yet, but when she is getting ready to unlatch or when she wants my attention, she will clamp down. It really hurts, and I cannot imagine what it would feel like with teeth. I yelled out one night, and she laughed. Now when she does it, I gently unlatch her and wait a few minutes before letting her nurse again. I try not to make a big deal out of it so that she won't think I am trying to play a game with her.

He bit for about two days when his teeth were coming in. That was months ago. When my kids do that, I just shove their face into my boob so they have to let go of the latch to breath. It keeps them from damaging the nipple. I found that if I yelled when Aidan (DS1) was a baby, he would only bite harder because he liked getting a reaction out of me.

Theo bites my face and he just has the two teeth right now. I discourage it.
