For those who have weaned, how did you do it? I started replacing my LO's dinner time nursing session with a bottle of formula. then she got sick so I started nursing full time again. Now i am trying to wean her again. The problem is that I never know if I have enough milk so i have been making formula bottles after she nurses just to make sure she is getting enough. I am getting fed up with this because it is double work & time, and I am wasting so much formula. Sometimes she doesn't want it, other times she drinks it so I know that my supply is low. I'm tempted to do bottles full time but I know I wont have time to pump and will end up with plugged ducts.

Also, at some nursing sessions she only eats for 2 or 3 minutes. I will then offer her formula and she does't want it, so can I really assume she got enough milk out of me??

Just because she takes a bottle after a nursing session doesn't mean you're not making enough. Bottles are just easier to suck. Anyway, the best way to wean is slowly. Replace one nursing session with a bottle or solids for one or two weeks. Then another and another. It takes a few months but eventually you'll be down to one nursing session a day and then you eliminate that one.

Sorry, I should add that you need to make sure it's the same session every day. Make a mental or physical note about all the times she eats and replace one. With my daughter I remember replacing her lunchtime nursing session first.
