Is it weird that Xavier rarely will look someone in the eye or maintain any sort of eye contact?

Normal distance. Maybe just slightly closer than you would talk to an adult?

I mean he's a very chatty active happy baby. But rarely will look you in the eye. I haven't been around enough babies especially recently to know if that's normal or not.

Not sure...I'd try from even a further distance. M looks at us (and others) in the eye all the time, but not all babies are the same. Maybe ask Ped on his next check up?

I may have over reacted. I tried from across the room and he did look. I guess it's just when up close he doesn't make eye contact.
