We are in the process of moving. We left NJ on Friday afternoon and drove down to NC where we planned to stop for a day to see friends before finishing our drive to Florida. On Saturday evening my oldest son Asher, he's 5, slipped on a puddle of water and hit his head, hard. He was limp when I picked him off the floor and by the time we got him sat in a chair to assess his injury the blood began pouring from his ear. We called 911 and he was taken by ambulance to the nearest ER. It was so emergent they cut off his clothes. The CT scan showed he had a severe concussion, skull fracture, and brain swelling. We spent Mother's Day in the PICU.
He's out of the hospital now and we've finally gotten to Florida. But this has been the longest week of my entire life. Asher is on the road to recovery, but it's going to be a while before he's fully healed.
