we met on a penpal website way back in the fall of 1997. oddly about a 1 week after we started chatting it turned into a porn site! ahah

we met for the first time a few weeks later in my mom's store at the mall.

we dated for about 8 months when he proposed. he did ask my parents for their permission. we went ring shopping together but didn't buy anything until I wasn't with him.

Then he proposed in May of 1998. He brought me a bouquet of roses and I noticed one was a fake rose as I pulled it out it opened and my ring was inside. He never really asked - ha. typical, he just kind of put it on me, and then we went out to dinner!

our wedding was June 5th 1999, planning started right away, had to book our venu, my mom had a gift store and was a stained glass artist at the time, so most of our decorations and stuff was through her business, she also made all the windows in the church.

we were married in a small country church, simple 15 minute ceremony despite MIL trying to make us get married in her catholic church.

my flowers were almost all tulips imported from holland. Our song was Faithfully by Journey, Danced to Butterfly Kisses with my Dad. we were the first of all of our friends to marry. The last song was Love of a Lifetime by Firehouse and Mike was in the middle of getting changed out of his tux so we danced barefoot together!

my maid of honor was my best friend I met in college, and I only had one bridesmaid my SIL. very small wedding party, Best Man was Mike's bestfriend from high school and groomsman was his brother. My brother was our ring bearer.

It was a great day.

I met DH at work. I trained him for part of the job

He took me on vacation about 9 months after we started dating and proposed on top of the Tahquamenon Falls. It was so sweet.

We married in a garden, it was very nice..but the weather turned cold that day and everyone brought blankets to keep warm, so it was kind of fun.

Well my Mum knew him but his daughter was friends with my little sister who I had guardianship of. I went to meet him to make sure it was a safe place for my sister to go to and we just clicked. We sat there and talked from about 8pm until almost midnight with ease. Then a few days later I texted him to give him my number incase the girls were visiting each other and he needed to get in touch etc, he asked if I wanted to catch up for coffee the following Friday and I said yes. He ended up bringing both his kids around and they spent the whole day here. His family just fit in with mine. They ended up staying until like 10pm and I realised I had butterflys when he was around. Then he came over a few times over the next few days, picking up and dropping off the girls. Then on the Tuesday his kids went to their Mums for a week over the holidays and I texted him letting him know if he needed company he was welcome to come over and watch a movie or something. He came over and we sat up until 4am just talking. The next day he asked me out to dinner. The next few days I had a really hard time after some family issues happened and he was there for me every step of the way. That Saturday we had dinner and the rest is history.

I actually met him through a random Yahoo Messenger IM. Back at that time you could search for profiles that were online in your area. I left my instant messenger on while I went to school for the night. When I came back I would respond to anyone still online. Rob was one of those IMs one night.

So we started talking. He lived in the town next to me. I had just gotten out of a year long relationship, he out of a long off and on again relationship. Neither of us were really looking for anything.

We talked for a while then one night he said he was going to Sonic for some ice cream and I could join him if I wanted (or maybe it was vice versa. I don't remember anymore) so we met up at Sonic and talked until they were getting ready to close. Then a week or two later the same exchange "I'm going to Taco Bell. You can show up if you want to." We had our first kiss in the Taco Bell parking lot. Lol

His kiss was the first time I had really felt chemistry from a kiss. I never really got what the big deal was with kissing before that.

So after that I assumed we were a couple but my best guy friend told me I couldn't assume that. So, a few days after that he met me at school one night and we talked in the parking lot and I asked him the awkward question of "what are we? Are we a couple or what?" He said "what do you want to be?" I said I would like to be a couple. So from then on we were. Lol that was April 1, 2005

We decided very quickly that we were meant to be together. I believe it was May sometime we were sitting on the couch watching TV and he said "So do you really wanna get married?" i said yeah. He took my hand and dragged me to his mom and said "We are going to get married in about a year." November of that year we began trying to go through the steps of getting married much to my parents dismay. They didn't like him or his family. We had wanted to wait for our 1 year anniversary but my father was threatening to disown me and say I had stolen the car he bought for me and was making payments to him on and take me off his insurance. So Rob and I chose to bump it up so I would have his insurance and his mom had a spare car I could use.

We ultimately "kind of" eloped. We told our families what was happening but we did it on Robs lunch break from work one day. My mom did serve as our witness. That was December 2, 2005.

My parents DIDN'T disown me, but things were awkward between myself and my father for about 3 years. Even now it's still awkward but I don't completely avoid him.

High School

We were together on and off for a few years. (I kept breaking up with him because he was too serious about me.) The last time we got together I just knew he was where I was supposed to be. He surprised me by proposing only about 4 months after we had started dating the last time. I said yes of course.

Our wedding wasn't anything I wanted it to be. It rained, there was severe friend drama and it wasn't the wedding I wanted (we were pushed to do lots of things by his mom). BUT in the end I could have cared less about the wedding, I got to marry the one person that gets me and has stood by me through so much. We will be married 10 years in March.

We worked together at Kentucky Fried Chicken when I was 22 and he was 18. We worked together for about a year and a half and were good friends. I was currently in school for Early Childhood Education so I decided to take another job in Child Care so I could get some experience. We weren't scheduled together for over a week so I didn't get to tell him I was leaving until my last day of work and he was quiet the whole evening, gave me a quick hug goodbye and that concluded my last night working there.

About two years later I was thinking about him and about how he was doing so I looked him up on Myspace, it took a few days of off and on searching but I found his profile and I sent him a simple message "Hi, remember me from KFC?". I received a response not even an hour later and since he was only 10 minutes away I drove over to catch up.

We spend the afternoon talking about old memories and what we've been up to. He told me he was a month away from signing the papers to join the marines. We spent the next few days hanging out and after 5 days we became official. A month later he proposed to me while we were sitting on a little bridge eating ice cream and 9 months later we were married . When I told my parents we were engaged they weren't exactly thrilled, I believe my dad's exact first words were, "What the *bleep*". As our wedding day approached my family fell in love with him as well . We had a small outdoor wedding at my parents place. I wore a beautiful yellow dress from David's Bridal. About 4-5 days after our wedding Sophie was conceived.

We have been together for 4 years and 1 month now and have been happily married for 3 years, 3 months and 16 days!!

Sort of on a dating site! I had posted up a profile and forgotten about it, and hadn't had any emails through from there for ages, when Shaun emailed me. His email sounded a lot more interesting and in-depth than the other messages I'd had from guys on there - he actually sounded interested in me as a person. We exchanged several emails before deciding to meet up and our first date was at the arthouse cafe/cinema "The Cornerhouse" in Manchester. We carried on dating and by the fourth date we both classed it as a relationship.

We decided to start trying for a baby when we did (2 years in) because of our ages (I am late 30s, he is late 40s). No proposal yet.

I loooooove reading these, I get warm fuzzies

DH and I kinda moved in similar circles in highschool, I went to a Catholic highschool and he went to public. But I had a volatile relationship for 2 years with a guy he went to school with. I finally broke up for the last time with the other guy, and was out skipping school and grabbing a coffee with my friend. A bunch of people were skipping. I leaned over to grab something from my truck, and someone grabbed my bum! I turned around and slapped the person closest to me. It was DH, and he had had his wisdom teeth out two days previously. He started spitting blood and stitches And he wasn't even the one that grabbed my bum...it was his friend beside him! I felt bad! We started hanging out. And the rest is essentially history...we agree our dating anniversary is April 3, 2003. We got engaged on my 25th birthday and married November 6, 2010. We had a LOT of ups and downs before that (school, family drama, personal medical issues), otherwise we'd have gotten engaged and married way before. I love him to bits even when he does stupid things lol.

I also love reading these!!!

I went with my friend to bring her husband dinner at his work one night and my fiance came out with him. We met and then both of us had asked about one another. We went on a double date and then hit it off and dated ever since. He proposed to me after we had been dating around 2 years. Mason was 2 months old. He was holding him and just told me how much I meant and asked me to marry him. We are getting married June 21 2014.

DH and I meet in a bar... a friend of mine worked at a gas station and its the one DH got gas and ciggs from so they had talked and ended up exchanging numbers to hang out. When I got home from basic (army) we were driving around and she remembered him and wanted us to meet because he's in the army to and she wanted to play match maker ha ha needless to say she did a good job lol so we ended up spending the night together playing pool and talking and we exchanged numbers and keep hanging out.

He proposed to me a year later. He had this whole night planned and I ruined the whole thing ha ha. He didn't tell me anything so I didn't know! He had dinner reservations at this fancy restaurant but didn't tell me so I got ready late and we missed the reservation so we went to olive garden. He then was going to put the ring with desert and for some reason I decided to order desert first lol. Then we went to the movies and after we went for a walk. Theres this really nice lake area with a mini waterfall and flowers and its by a hotel and some shops. He was acting so weird to he kept stoping and looking around and mumbling things like this won't do and not good enough lol. So for the first time we decided to walk all the way around the lake and he stopped and ran down this little path and said this will do then grabed me and dragged me down it to a bench right on the waterby the mini waterfall surrounded by flowers and trees. Then he sits me down and takes a deep breath and says you made today really hard on me (super romantic right lol) then he did the I love you so much speal then he stood up and I knew it was comming lol he pulled a ring out of his pocket and got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. Then he tryed putting the ring on my middle finger ha ha but in his defense he wasent looking lol. In the end I think it ended up being perfect.

We got married aug 28, 2010 and I had my beautiful strapless ball gown with a cathedral tran and the guys wore the long tails blak tuxes. Our colors wete lilac and silver. We had 8 couples in our wedding party lol and over 300 guests. It was a big wedding. We had an outdoor ceremony and there was this air show going on behind us (completly unplanned) but it was really nice! Then we got a limo and drove around with the wedding party then got to the reception which was at the castle hotel (looks like a castel) and we partyed all night lol thete wete a few things that went wrong but that's bpund tohhappen lol. Then we honeymooned in san Diego California for a week on mission bay. Its way beautiful and I got to marry my prince!

I love real life love stories. And Jessica, yours has always been my favorite. Lovely way to meet the man of your dreams, by slapping him so hard he spits blood. So romantic.

I met DH in high school. He was really quiet and shy and very artistic. I found out later he was embarrassed by his bad skin (which I never noticed) We were not high school sweethearts. I was in a crappy on again off again relationship with another guy and still in love with my ex. We dated very briefly and that was it. It didn't end well, he wrote me a 10 page hate letter, the end. We kept bumping into each other as the years passed. Went on one date and he never called again (later he said he got the impression I wasn't interested) ran into each other again and he ran across the entire parking lot where he worked to catch up with me and my friend and then had absolutely nothing to say. A few years later I heard that he had broken up with his girlfriend and decided it was my turn. I got his band invited to a birthday party we were all going to. I picked him and his buddy up and he was so pissy and bossy I threatened to throw him out of my car. (He later told me he was just really nervous and also had gotten soap in his eyes while showering and was scared I was going to think he was stoned. ) I figured oh well, that's that, he's not the sweet guy I remember but as soon as we got to the party and he started drinking he loosened up and we spent the entire night talking and just clicked. Three weeks later and we decided we were a couple,a week after that we said the L word, four months after that we moved in together, a year and a half later we were married.

He knew my love for the scene in Love Actually where the guy uses the cards to explain his feelings. So one day on the weekend he left to run to the store and there was a knock on the door. I opened it and he was standing there with his giant drawing pad and he had written "Don't talk, just listen" and then flipped through the book where he had written how much he loved me, and how he was so happy and he wanted me to be the first person he saw every morning and the last person he saw every night. I was crying. He got down on one knee with the last sign that of course was The Question and he was shaking. I don't even remember saying yes.

Our wedding was gorgeous. I put a lot of work into it. We were married in the back yard of my work place which has a beautiful view overlooking the water. The theme was white and red. My aunt was my matron of honor and my two best friends were my brides maids. Bobby's brothers were his groomsmen. It was perfect and elegant and exactly what I wanted. And our seven year wedding anniversary is at the end of this month.
