As our theme is mythical creatures, here is some information on mythical creatures and creatures of legend. I have left out "evil" creatures as I'm sure none of us would equate our LO with one!!

Which creature or creature is your LO most like?

Would you use it as a nickname?

CENTAUR - Creature with upper half of a human and lower half of a horse. From Greek mythology.

DRAGON - Dinosaur or lizard-like creature often with wings and/or breathes fire. From a variety of cultures.

ELF - A race of beings with magical skills, often depicted with ethereal features and/or large pointed ears. From Norse mythology.

FAIRY or FAERY - Tiny, mischievous and magical creatures associated with flowers and the element of earth. From a variety of cultures.

GNOME or DWARF - Cave or underground dwelling creatures small in stature but big in strength, often guarding treasure hoards. From a variety of traditions.

GRIFFIN or GRYPHON - A creature which is part-lion, part-eagle with the traits of both. From Greek mythology.

IMP - Similar to a fairy and part of some folklore traditions.

KELPIE - Supernatural water horse. From Celtic mythology.

LEPRECHAUN - Fairies with the appearance of a little old man in green, often guarding a pot of gold and according to legend resides at the end of the rainbow. From Irish mythology.

MERMAID - A sea-dwelling creature with the upper half of a woman and the lower half of a fish. In some legends the mermaid lures fishermen to a watery grave; in others, the mermaid rescues. From a variety of traditions.

NYMPH - Tiny water fairies or deities. From Greek and Latin mythology.

PHOENIX - An immortal bird that periodically regenerates or is reborn (like Dr Who!) after blazing up in flames. From Greek mythology.

PIXIE - A mischievous tiny fairy, sometimes depicted with elfish features. Possibly from Swedish folklore but known in a number of traditions.

PEGASUS - Supernatural winged white horse. From Greek mythology.

SYLPH - Invisible fairy-like creatures who dwell in the air. From Western mythology.

SATYR - Beings with goat-like features with a man's intelligence, who may bring messages from the gods. From Greek mythology.

UNICORN or ALICORN - A magical or angelic white/silver horse with a spiral horn protruding from its forehead, which may or may not be winged. From European mythology, though a similar creature is mentioned in the Bible.

WYVERN - A winged creature similar to a dragon which can be land- or sea- dwelling and represents tradition and history, often appearing on coats of arms. From American mythology.

YETI - The "abominable snowman" said to reside in the mountains in Nepal and Tibet. Whether the yeti is friendly or not is down to conjecture! From Western mythology.

Mythical Creature Siggy Art!

I will look for some more when I have time. We could start a JM trend of having some sort of mythical creature reference in our sig as a shout-out to the PR.

Love these all Sharron! I have to figure out which one I want in my siggy!

We call Cam "Monster" just in general because of a "roar" he makes all the time, but I should start calling him "Dragon" LOL

Jenn, so is Michaela. Her middle name is Pixie, which was Shaun's choice, so I blame him. But yeah...she really is our little pixie girl.

When I get chance I will find some more mythical creature bling, there's loads out there, it's just collating it. I'm looking at changing my signature again, when I get chance, and just using blinkies etc until we get nearer to Xmas when I'll use last year's Xmas pics to get a new siggy made. So I will add a few into mine then too.
