This is our last Thanksgiving on Island and away from family - Yay!! Every year we've been here, we have gone over to our good friends who moved here just a few months before us and we celebrate with them - Bringing a ham and some sides typically. Over the 3 years, more and more people have joined us. This year DH was suppose to work that day - So we thought, no big deal. We'll just have to eat later (like 6pm). Then his schedule got changed so he works that night - Meaning he would sleep all day. An early dinner just won't happen because I simply cannot cook a feast alone with the girls. So I was making plans to go to a friends with the girls and bring him a plate on the way home. But he ended up getting the entire day off - Thanks to a nice single Sailor. So now he gets the whole day with us. We're making a Pumpkin pie to take with us to our friends

We will be having Thanksgiving dinner at home. Dh is off work, so he will be cooking the turkey, and ill be cooking the rest. My older girls will help out. We always cook a huge dinner at home for Thanksgiving and watch Christmas movies, and the Macys parade. I'm not sure who will be coming over, dh's family tends to just drop in. I'm thinking his mom and her boyfriend will come over for sure. That will most likely make things a bit stressful because Kyah hasn't had the chance to get to know her very well, and she cries just about every single time she sees her. I'm just hoping for a lovely day with my family!

Am I allowed to comment after the fact?

Yesterday morning I watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my little DD. People started coming over to our house around 12:30pm. We had a houseful! I was us-myself, my mom, my little DD (Rylan), & big DD (Delaney), along with my dad, my sister and her family, my aunt, my cousin Lance and his family, and my sister's childhood friend & her two girls always come by. The food was amazing!! We always have turkey (of course) and we get a smoked pork something (a shoulder, I think) from a family friend of ours who smokes a whole pig every Thanksgiving. Secret- I don't like turkey so I always look forward to the smoked pork.

We normally go to a local tree lighting on Thanksgiving night but it's colder than it normally is in Georgia right now so I opted not to go this year. I had no desire to do any Thanksgiving day shopping but my eldest DD (age 16) and her friend went to the mall for a little while. It was a very nice holiday and I'm so happy to have 3 more days off from work.
