This weekend I went in for steroid shots, and holy cow it was a way worse experience then what I was expecting!

First, it felt like they were putting pure acid into my bum as it went in (a little warning, please?!?), and then a few hours later my thigh to my mid back (just on the side where the shot was given) started cramping up and hurting! The pain woke me up and kept me awake for hours that night!

Second day, I asked the nurse to put the shot in slower and that helped the acid/pain of the meds going in A LOT! I got some percacet (sp?) and that helped for a few hours, but then my already sore back started hurting again on the side of the shot again and I went in to L&D for something stronger. I couldn't hold still because of the pain in my back while they were monitoring me!! So I got some Morphine and slept beautifully that night.

HOWEVER, ever since the second dose of steroids and the pain meds baby hasn't been moving much. I'm trying to be patient and let the meds completely get out of my system before I start to worry to much, but of course that's easier said than done. I'm still groggy 30 hours after the shot was given to me and the baby IS moving, but just not very often. So, perhaps since I'm still groggy he is too?

I thought this would be a lot less uneventful than it was!

I would guess the meds (percs and morphine) are probably making him a little groggy too. I think I'd ask just to be sure though.

Oh no! I'm sorry that went so crappy for you! I wouldn't think it would be such a big ordeal either! I hope you start feeling better sooner than later!

The shots are definitely not pleasant and burned like crap but the only side effect I had was it was too sore to lay on that side they gave me th shot. You must be groggy from the morphine. If you are concerned, I would call your dr office before they close and see what they say.

Sorry about the pain!! I've never had steroid shots. I definitely think that if you are still groggy then baby is as well. That is more than likely why you aren't feeling much movement. I would say if baby doesn't pass the kick count test that you go ahead and call and let your OB know.

that sounds awful! Try and drink lots of water to flush the meds out.

Sounds awful. Hope you feel better and he starts moving more. I had steroids with my twins and didn't feel a thing and had no side effects. I think the pain meds could make him a little slower but it shouldn't last long.

Morphine will slow baby down just like you, so once you are back to normal be looking for your little one to speed up too.

The shots sound MISERABLE!! I'm so so sorry!

Thanks, everyone. Baby started picking up the activity yesterday afternoon, and then made up for his inactivity all evening and night! Made me feel lots better.

From what I've been hearing and reading my experience with the steroids isn't a very common thing. Sheesh! I'm really really glad it's a memory now. (Can it be September NOW please?!?!)
