My sister was in town day before yesterday and we shopped and shopped and shopped. I ended up with crippling lower back pain yesterday and into last night. I woke up feeling a lot better, but it came back this evening. Back pain has been an issue a lot lately, but this is pretty crazy.

Nothing is helping- walking, stretching, standing, sitting, heat packs, massage, etc. This is my first pregnancy so intense pain and discomfort is scary. I always have menstrual cramps in my lower back so it makes me think it's labor pains or something bad.

Any advice? Is this normal?

Dropping in from Oct. DDC and actually some ladies are talking about back labor in there right now and sounds similar to what you're describing. I would get it checked out even if it's not too bad just to be sure. Good Luck!

I called the overnight triage nurse. She said to try chiropractic adjustments and get a yoga ball. Fingers crossed!

hope that works and you get relief. I just started getting back pain this week but it's not crippling, yet.

My back pain is to the point I can barely walk and the weird part is that it's focused on what is normally my good side. I generally have no problems on the lower left side, but the lower right is a chiropractic nightmare because of a rather nasty throw from a horse years ago. But my left is so locked up at this point that I have been dragging around a heated rice bag like a baby every where I go. I sleep with it and it goes everywhere I might be sitting down. Tylenol, stretching, nothing touches the pain otherwise.

I hope you start feeling some relief soon! You said it happened after doing a lot of walking and shopping; so I am thinking it is probably related to that. However, I just thought I would mention that UTI's can cause extreme back pain. Just in case. More than likely it is probably due to the weight of the baby causing a strain on your lower back.
