Ladies- I need help. I used cloth with DS1, so I didn't worry about having a diaper supply outside of the cloth (which had some newborn sized things, and then one size diapers that were adjustable). Over the last three years I've sold a lot, given some to friends to try, etc. and am down to 13 of the one size diapers- no newborn sizes. I didn't really want to do cloth again just b/c I am so terrible at keeping up with laundry already.
So- getting onto the real question. What should my supply look like for this new baby, diaper wise? How many boxes (and size of boxes) do you have of the tiny sizes?
I have been trying to rack my brain to remember how many of size newborn and size one that we had stocked up before Keira was born and I just remember we had a ton! She was also in newborn size for a while!
I caved and opened a pack of our swaddlers bc I wanted to look at the diaper. I forgot how stinkin' tiny they are!
I have 1 box, plus 1 jumbo bag of newborn sized diapers. I'm sure that will be enough for us including the ones we will get from the hospital.
As for size 1 my sister bought us 2 of the hospital supply boxes (like 225 in each box - she's a dr so she can get them at cost of whatever it would cost to buy it for the hospital!) plus I already had a couple of the jumbo bags in size 1.
I'm sure I will get more at my shower in a couple weeks, but that is definately enough to last us the 1st couple months I think.
I also have a couple bags of size 2 put back and 1 size 3.
It really depends on birth weight. I had two 9+ pounders who were out of newborn diapers within 2 weeks and one 6 pounder who was in them for 6-8 weeks.
This time, since I don't even know what the baby will weigh....I only bought one large pack of newborn diapers, and we'll go from there. I can send Hubby out to stock up on what we need once he's here because I truly don't know how big he will be. If he's big I don't want to be stuck with a bunch of diapers I can't use, so I'm waiting...and just have enough newborns to get us through the first few days.
Truthfully, since I am planning on cloth diapering....I'm not even sure because I don't know when he'll be able to fit into these cloth dipes I have because they look enormous.
I think.....go with the flow.

I plan to cloth diaper this time. I'm basically in Sarah's situation. I don't know how much baby girl will weigh or when she will fit into the one size cloth diapers. I have several jumbo packs of size 1 diapers and a few jumbo packs of newborn size. I know I could always exchange the diapers for a bigger size if I needed to, so I am not too worried about that. I'm excited to use my cloth diapers though!
Well, I can tell you about my CD experience. I used Bum Genius- and had some size XS and a few size S in the sized ones, and then a huge stock of the one sizes. Mason fit into the sized ones for about the first few weeks, and then the AIOs fit. I only used the disposable ones the hospital gave us, and that was it...and it was enough for a couple days to get through the meconium poo. The all in ones fit once he got to around 8 lbs...so really didn't need a lot of newborn stage stuff at all.

Thank you Kayla! Wow, I was expecting it to take a lot longer for some reason. I wasn't thinking the 8 pound range would be heavy enough. I feel much better now! I also am quite sure now that I wont need all of the disposable that I have. Thanks for the info
I have one pack - regular sized - of newborn diapers, I also plan on bringing home as many as I can from the hospital.
and 2 large packs 50 diapers each of size 1. if it isn't enough, I figured I am just having a baby, the apocalypse isn't gonna happen, target will still be there! haha!

I have a few small packs of NB size diaper and more size 1s. It's hard to say because Bella was in preemies for the first few week, flew through NB and size 1 but was in size 1-2 for a while!
I don't want to stock up on too much because you never know but it's good to have a pack or two in each size to get started
We got a ton of diapers at our baby shower. We were planning to cloth diaper but we decided to just do sposies for a while until I'm ready to CD. I'm struggling to keep up with laundry now, imagine with a newborn and having the school/cheerleading/craft club stuff my kids do every week.
This is what we have, I figure it'll do for now, we can always get to the store if needed.
NB:
1 Huggies 36 ct
2 Pampers 20 ct (pretty sure these are from a hospital)
A lot will depend on the baby, some outgrow them much faster than others. I can't remember how many of each size we used for DS. I got a bunch of diapers from my shower and will use what we need and then if needed i'll return any extras to the store for bigger sizes. I have a lot of NB sizes so am expecting to return some of those. We have: Newborn- 1 box, 4 packs Size 1- 1 box, 3 large packs, 3 smaller packs Size 2-1 large pack Size 3- 1 pack
LOL @ Ami and the apocalypse. I know that won't happen, but with my DH working 80-90 hours a week, the last thing he'll want to do is go get diapers for me, and I'm not sure how well getting out will be at first. I literally do not have a single pack of diapers...just those 13 CDs I have left, so, I'm feeling the need to get SOMETHING going on.
