Woke up Saturday morning to a very large mess of blood all over the sheets under my butt that soaked through my pillow topper so I would say quit a bit of blood. My husband and I jumped up, I called the dr. and was just standing in the shower trying to rinse off before I put clothes on and had what appeared to be blood clots coming out. I was scared but I could still feel baby moving so that was conforting so I wasn't totally panicked. We get to L&D, they see I have a good bit of blood put me on monitors and check me. Baby looks beautiful, just having random contractions that I couldn't even detect so nothing really. They kept asking if I had any pain and I had 0, felt fine, bleeding went away, and I was still dilated right at 3 centimeters and 50% effaced. They let us go home. Nothing going on throughout the day been feeling normal and just now I get up to go to the bathroom and I have a very large, very bloody snotty disharge. I would guess it's bloody mucus plug. From what I have been reading it could mean time is close or not so Idk. I don't want to think it is getting to be time and it's not. I'm not ready, I want to keep cooking but I want to be realistic. What are your thoughts ladies?

Oh and extra info
I'm 36 weeks
This is number 4, delivered 1 healthy at 34 weeks, 1 on due date, and 1 5 days late
Never had this happen before with any of them

Scary! Did the doctors give you any idea of what it could be? I had a subchorrionic hemmorhage early in the pregnancy and your ordeal sounds similar. Maybe something similar?

I don't know, but please keep us posted. We'll be praying for you!

No the dr didn't really give us much answers on what it was. They seemed mildly concerned when we first arrived since I still had bleeding but by the time I left they was not concerned at all. The lack of concern when we left made me confident everything was fine, but I have always had the impression that bleeding during pregnancy is a bad sign. I feel fine and baby is still moving just super confused right now. I see the dr again in the morning (Monday)

My initial thought was your bloody show. I wouldn't think it'd be that much though. Everyone is different thugh so ya never know. Take comfort in knowing baby is okay.

Oh my goodness, that sounds soooo scary! Geesh, I would have thought the doctor would have told you something as far as what caused the bleeding. Did you get an u/s so that the placenta could be checked to rule out any issues there? I never had a "bloody show", so I am no help in that area. Did you ever have a bloody show in your other pregnancies? I too would think it would be much less blood. I am so glad you and baby are doing fine!

I am guessing since you had this ordeal and then lost your plug that it is very much likely that labor is very close. Of course it is also so unpredictable that it could be a few weeks off still. Try to rest and relax as much as possible.

Are you on bed rest now?

did they check on the placenta? make sure it hasnt come loose off the wall of the uterus? I dont want to scare you, im sure they did their jobs and know what to look for more than us and wouldnt let you go home if you werent ok. but did they mention just to confirm to you. they may have known it was fine though and not said something to not scare you for give you bad ideas.

I thought the bloody show was typically a small amount of blood? I would've been pretty concerned myself. How scary!! If they checked everything out then i'd assume its okay, but if you have any more or are still nervous there's nothing wrong with getting checked out again.

I would be concerned did you have a sono to check everything on the inside? The bloody mucus/discharge is fine. The rest doesn't sound so wonderful I wouldnt think that your cervix would put off that much blood just from dialation. My dr told me at my last appt that "spotting was fine, blood like a period is never normal". So it has me worried.. I'm sure they know what they are doing but I know everyone makes mistakes and my baby brother almost didn't make it because she was sent home after her water broke and they didn't believe her.. I'm not trying to scare you. But I'm scared for you

Where is your placenta? Did they check to make sure it looked okay? If you have any more bleeding I would go back in.

The bloody mucus is probably from you dilating more and losing your plug. I would guess you're probably going to go into labor soon.

I wouldnt put all my trust in the doctors. They have been 100 % wrong in my case too many times for me to count. I wonder about your placenta too. Did they ultrasound to check that? I'll pray for you and your sweet baby. *hugs*

The only time I have EVER bled that much this late in pregnancy and I had a tear and separation of the placenta. Baby was fine thank goodness, but if left unmonitored it could be horrible! Ask to be seen again!!!!!!!!!!
