Yesterday (thursday night) DH, Matthew, our doggie Lily and I had dinner at my parents house. DH's mom and aunt left for a cruse that morning as well and my MIL asked if DH could pick up her car from his aunts house and bring it back to her house. So after dinner we went over to his aunts to pick up her car. DH drove her car and I followed him in our car with Matthew and Lily. So we get there and he runs the keys into his step dad and he asks if we could give him a ride to the bar, he was metting up with some friends from work and didnt want to drive home drunk so he figured he would just call a cab in the morning. Smart though right lol. So DH and FIL come outside so I get out of the driver seat to move to the passenger seat and Lily jumped out of the car (she does it all the time but stays close so she is rarley on a leash, shes a good girl lol)
so anywho we all got in the car and drove to the bar (about 15 mins away) and were just talking and what not. So we pull up to the bar and as FIL was getting out of the car I asked where Lily was so we make sure she dosent jump out and he said I thought she was up front with you! I said I thought she was in back you! So when she had jumped out of the car she never got back in!!!!!
Freaked me out! So DH and I drive back to there house to find her and I'm over here praying she didnt try to follow us and get hit by a car or something! I was TERRIFIED!!!! They also have 2 dogs so I was hopeing she would be good and stay with them at the house.
So we get there and DH looks for her in the yard and around the house and were calling her and nothing. So DH starts walking the streets and I drive the streets calling for her and looking for her. I'm freaking out and call my parents (we all live very close to eachother) to see if my daddy could come help us look for her (they love her so much to) so my dad is getting ready and I'm on the phone with my mom and still calling and looking for Lily then DH calls me so I put m mom on hold and answered his call and he said he found her. I asked if she was OK and where he found her and he said she was fine and she was in the backyard with the other dogs! How the heck did he miss her when he looked! Well he found her sweater (yes my doggie wears sweaters and she loves then lol) on the fence so he went looking harder for her in the yard and she was hideing from him! She though she was in trouble for getting out of the car when she wasent suposed to ha ha!
So thankd god we found her unharmed and prefectly fine! I was also worried because its cold here in colorado but thankfully they have a doggie door and DH said she was warm so was inside the house with the boys. Oh gosh I was so worried! She has never done anything like that before and I feel like a bad mommy now! How the hell could I have left my doggie like that! I feel so freaking bad! I've just been so tired and worn out and she loves it when theres another person around and just loves on them like crazy so I assumed she was with him! Thats why I aways say never assume and I do it myself now! oh gurrrr! Am I a bad mom now? I would NEVER leave my son behind like that and would NEVER leave Lily behind like that either! I should have made sure she was in the car and not be distracted by my phone! Oh gosh I just feel so bad!
I am so glad you found Lily safe and unharmed! Love the name Lily for a doggie btw This certain does not make you a bad Mom!! You had every reason to think she was in the backseat! This will just make you even more cautious! I am happy to see that this had a happy ending
Aww I'm so happy you found her! No way are you a bad mom! Besides, as much as we say our pets are like our children, I think it's totally different when you actually have a child to look after - it was an honest mistake! Yay for happy endings though!!
Thank you so much girls! I really needed the reassurance! I am so thankful that she is OK! she was a very smart doggie and stayed where she knew she was safe so that is so amazing on her part! Thanks again!
